About This Job


Role Overview

Manage the maintenance process across the Region to safely optimize plant equipment availability to meet business goals at the lowest overall long-term cost for the facility.

This position is based at an active mine site and requires daily onsite presence. Work conditions may include uneven terrain, climbing ladders, navigating steps, and exposure to varying weather conditions such as heat, rain, or mud.


Key Responsibilities

- Ensure employees perform work according to established safety rules and practices while striving for ZERO Accidents.

- Ensure employees have the appropriate tools and training to perform tasks in a safe manner.

- Encourage identification of Near Misses along with appropriate corrective actions.

- Develop an autonomous maintenance program with zero accidents and zero breakdowns while operating in a tightly controlled fiscal position.

- Develop maintenance management tools and practices.

- Continuously improve processes and activities that deliver business performance.


Other Duties and Responsibilities

- Must act in accordance with WE CARE.

- Other actions as needed to satisfy company goals, process, and procedures and to uphold values inherent to Oil-Dri.


Relationships:

- Key Maintenance customers/partners are mining, processing, packaging, and warehousing

- Accounting is an important customer and supplier

- Purchasing is a key supplier and partner

- Member of future corporate maintenance improvement team


Accountability:

- Safety First – zero accidents.

- Meet goals for scheduled and unscheduled maintenance time.

- Effective maintenance planning and forecasting.

- Manage cost of repairs using lean manufacturing processes.

- Ensuring that equipment is available in operating condition when needed.


Measurement of Performance:

- Zero Accidents

- Achievement of goals related to plant operations, including: Zero Breakdowns, Callbacks, Conformance to schedules, Overtime (% and $), Timely completion of work orders

- Customer satisfaction and partner relationships


Qualifications


Education:

- Four-year technical degree, mechanical engineering preferred)

- Minimum 3 years’ experience in maintenance management, maintenance engineering or maintenance reliability.

- Project management skills and tools.


Skills & Abilities:

- Knowledge of and experience with safety methods and technology.

- Experience with development and use of preventative and predictive maintenance systems.

- Knows technology required to operate and maintain equipment such as crushers, kilns, mills, screens, fans, pumps, blowers, belt conveyors, pneumatic conveyors, packaging lines, bag houses, cyclones, burners, electrical distribution, spray systems, waste systems, piping, computerized controls, dozers, hydraulic loaders, trucks etc.

- Experienced in maintenance planning, analysis, forecasting, administration, and documentation, work order management, parts management, preventative, predictive and condition-based maintenance technologies, and in system to manage this work plant-wide.

- Experience and demonstrated ability to implement and manage lean manufacturing processes.
