Job Summary
This is a remote position that will require travel to assigned project areas to support renewable energy development across multiple markets, including Iowa, Illinois, Texas and other states. We are seeking a motivated and experienced Land Agent with a demonstrated background in wind and solar energy projects. This role is responsible for identifying, negotiating, and securing land rights for renewable energy development. The successful candidate will bring strong negotiation skills, sound judgment, and a working knowledge of the renewable energy development process. This position is well-suited for professionals who excel in land acquisition, stakeholder engagement, and lease negotiations within the renewable energy sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and evaluate properties and landowners suitable for wind and solar energy development.
- Perform property-level due diligence, including ownership research, title review, zoning, and environmental constraints.
- Initiate and manage landowner outreach, building and maintaining productive relationships throughout the negotiation process.
- Negotiate lease terms, easements, and related land use agreements, including compensation structures such as rental payments and royalties.
- Coordinate with legal, environmental, and development teams to ensure agreements align with project requirements and regulatory standards.
- Support project feasibility analysis by assessing land availability, site access, transmission proximity, and other development considerations.
- Draft, review, and manage lease documentation and related contracts through execution.
- Maintain accurate records of negotiations, property data, executed agreements, and project status.
- Monitor industry trends, regulatory developments, and market conditions affecting renewable energy land acquisition.
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of experience in land acquisition, real estate negotiations, or lease management; renewable energy experience strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of wind and solar development, including applicable regulations, permitting considerations, and market dynamics.
- Demonstrated success negotiating land leases and securing land rights agreements.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with landowners, attorneys, and internal stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, particularly in contract review and documentation.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with standard technology tools for document management, data tracking, and communication.
