The Maintenance Manager supports plant operations by maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing facilities and manufacturing equipment. This role is responsible for overseeing preventive and corrective maintenance programs to improve productivity, equipment reliability, and overall operational efficiency. The Maintenance Manager will supervise and lead a team of maintenance technicians to ensure production and quality goals are met.
- Functional knowledge of mechanical components
- Strong mechanical repair, troubleshooting, and metalworking skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- 2–5 years of industrial or plant maintenance/mechanic experience
- Management experience preferred
- Forklift experience preferred
- Coordinate preventive inspections, routine maintenance, and repairs of production equipment, vehicles, and facility infrastructure
- Install, troubleshoot, and modify building grounds, electrical systems, mechanical systems, and related equipment
- Identify and correct potential equipment failures and unsafe conditions
- Perform machine shop work using equipment such as drill presses, grinders, torches, cutting equipment, and electric/manual hand tools
- Ensure all maintenance work complies with OSHA, local, state, and federal codes, as well as company policies and procedures
- Maintain proper care, cleanliness, and organization of tools, parts, materials, and work areas
- Supervise maintenance personnel, daily activities, purchasing, and tool room inventory
- Perform other duties as assigned by management
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Comply with all Southland Steel Fabricators, Inc. safety rules, policies, and procedures
- Attend all required safety meetings and training sessions
- Inspect tools and equipment daily to ensure they are safe and free of defects
- Safely operate hand and power tools with proper guards in place
- Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) appropriate for assigned tasks
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Ability to frequently push, pull, carry, or lift tools, equipment, or materials up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to frequently bend, squat, or crouch
- Ability to frequently handle tools, equipment, or materials
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, and humidity
