Federal Steel Supply is looking for a detail-oriented Administrative Assistant to support our Houston operations. This role is critical to keeping daily shipping, receiving, and order processing running smoothly. You will work closely with the yard, supply chain, and corporate teams to ensure accuracy and communication across all orders and shipments.
This is a hands-on role in a fast-paced environment, ideal for someone who is organized, comfortable learning new systems, and enjoys being a key part of operations.
- Manage driver check-in and check-out for pickups and deliveries
- Notify yard operators and receiving teams when trucks are ready for loading or unloading
- Create packing lists and bills of lading for completed orders
- Enter and manage order and material data within internal systems
- Learn and use internal systems to process and track material (including cutting entries)
- Schedule LTL shipments and coordinate outbound loads
- Partner with Supply Chain and Corporate QA on material documentation and MTRs
- Track buyout materials and move approved items into the order fulfillment process
- Maintain records for orders sent out for outside services
- Pull operational reports and support day-to-day data needs
- Send daily shipment reports and distribute all shipping documentation
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Clear and professional communication skills
- Comfortable working in multiple systems and learning new tools quickly
- Proficiency in Excel and basic computer skills
- Ability to stay organized and manage multiple tasks at once
- Previous administrative or operations support experience preferred
This role works closely with yard operations and office staff in a fast-paced, team-oriented setting. Flexibility is important, as workload may vary and occasional overtime may be needed.
