- Lead, coach, and mentor a team of highly skilled E/I Technicians, fostering a culture of technical excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Manage the daily work assignments, scheduling, performance evaluations, and training plans for the E/I staff.
- Ensure the team follows all GRDA safety rules, including rigorous adherence to Arc Flash (NFPA 70E) standards and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
- Systems Expertise: Serve as the primary technical expert for the diagnosis, repair, and calibration of the plant’s high-capacity equipment, including:
- Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).
- High-voltage switchgear (up to 13.8kV), transformers, and generator excitation systems.
- Protective relaying systems and relay coordination (e.g., Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories - SEL).
- Plant instrumentation and controls
- Motors and motor controls
- Maintenance Strategy: Oversee the scheduling and completion of all E/I preventative maintenance (PMs) within the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Outage Management: Develop, plan, and execute the E/I scope of work for both planned and forced outages, ensuring work is completed safely, on time, and within budget.
- Ensure meticulous documentation and record-keeping for all maintenance, repair, and calibration activities to satisfy internal audits and external regulatory requirements.
- Maintain strict compliance with NERC Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) standards and other regional transmission organization rules relevant to GREC's operation.
- Manage the instrument calibration program to maintain high accuracy and traceability of all critical plant sensors and control loops.
- Collaborate with the Maintenance Planner and Warehouse personnel to manage critical spare parts inventory for E/I components.
- Assist the Maintenance Manager in budget development and manage small capital projects related to E/I infrastructure upgrades.
- Associate’s Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Instrumentation, or a related field; OR a Journeyman Electrician or Instrument Technician certification with equivalent technical and supervisory experience.
- Minimum of seven (7) years of hands-on E/I maintenance experience in a coal-fired, gas, or large-scale heavy industrial power generation environment.
- In lieu of associate’s degree, seven (7) years of power plant experience including at least two (3) years of maintenance and/or operations leadership experience.
- Experience with advanced class combustion turbines and combined cycle power plants, preferred.
- Supervisory experience in power plant maintenance and/or operations, preferred.
- Demonstrated expertise in the maintenance and calibration of pneumatic, electronic, and smart field instruments.
- Advanced proficiency in reading and interpreting complex electrical schematics, P&IDs, control logic diagrams, and loop drawings.
- Certified knowledge of, and strict adherence to, NFPA 70E (Arc Flash Safety).
- Strong working knowledge of NERC/FERC compliance requirements, particularly as they relate to protective relays and generator systems.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot and maintain at least one major industrial DCS platform (e.g., Emerson Ovation, Netmation, or similar).
- Ability to work in a demanding industrial environment, including extreme weather conditions, elevated noise, and machinery.
- Must be able to wear required PPE and be able to climb stairs/ladders and work at heights and in confined spaces.
- Must be available for on-call duties and extended hours during plant emergencies and planned outages.
- The position is located primarily at the Grand River Energy Center in Chouteau, Oklahoma. Minimal travel requirements.
- After-hours repair work may be required under system emergency, system upsets or storm conditions.
