Direct night shift employees at production facility. This position is a working supervisor.
- Achieve production targets for volume processed, material recovery and quality
- Direct shift production staff to perform work duties. Train new staff as needed.
- Monitor equipment for visual and software indications of abnormal performance
- Ensure material quality meets standards.
- Monitor and accurately record shift production metrics on daily basis. Enters this information into existing spreadsheets and IT systems to ensure accurate reporting of financial results and appropriate pricing of feedstock.
- Ensure training of new employees and cross-training of existing employees in production functions and basic maintenance repairs. Function as back-up to equipment operators.
- Ensure proper settings are utilized for processing each material within the plant for customer specifications.
- Direct activity for internal maintenance and breakdowns including scheduled equipment maintenance, preventative maintenance, service, parts ordering and inventory, and repair. Diagnose and determine if unplanned repairs can be performed by internal team or if outside help is required. Work with outside contractors to conduct repairs & upgrades.
- Responsible for on-shift communications with the Company’s shredding facility for inbound and outbound material, complex maintenance issues, etc.
- Fully understand and ensure shift’s compliance with safety, environmental, landfill and storm water policies and procedures.
- Monitor employee absences and reassign duties as necessary to ensure coverage of the shift’s schedule.
- Manage the performance of the production employees under direct supervision providing constructive feedback to improve performance.
- Ensure employees follow written procedures and fill out inspection sheets for all facility activities – maintenance, cleanup, etc.
- Must be flexible with hours worked to meet production deadlines.
- Ability to lead the entire plant with minimal assistance while the Facility Manager is not on-site
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned or directed.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 3-5 years recent and relevant experience supervising a staff of equivalent size in an industrial manufacturing or processing environment required.
- Familiarity with welding, mechanical, and simple electrical maintenance.
- Must be familiar with maintenance management in order to direct maintenance employees.
- Ability to utilize Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel to communicate and track information.
- Candidates must possess a valid driver’s license.
