Are you a skilled ERP Application Specialist with a passion for enhancing business systems?
The Specialist, ERP Application will collaborate closely with the management team and business stakeholders to advance and continuously improve Alectra’s ERP platforms. Your role will involve analyzing user requirements, designing and implementing process and system solutions, staying current with industry trends, ensuring compliance and security, and contributing to change management for ERP system implementations and upgrades.
What You’ll Do Business Analysis and Design
- Analyze current business processes, design improvements, and participate in the development of new systems.
- Define and refine complex business processes using the ERP system in collaboration with stakeholders.
- Lead design sessions to enhance business processes, operations, and information flow.
- Research and recommend emerging processes, enhancements, and technologies.
- Model business and systems processes using case scenarios, workflow diagrams, and data models.
- Design, develop, and oversee the implementation of integrated solutions and enhancements.
- Develop and document business requirements, functional specifications, and design in coordination with stakeholders.
- Work with technical staff and subject matter experts to develop and document technical specifications.
- Coordinate system implementations and ensure compliance with standards, regulations, and Ontario Energy Board requirements.
- Conduct system testing, including unit, integration, and user acceptance testing to ensure quality and accuracy.
- Assist in the development and execution of data migration strategies for smooth transitions from legacy systems.
- Provide ongoing support and troubleshooting for the ERP system, addressing user inquiries and resolving issues.
- Participate in the evaluation, selection, and implementation of third-party add-ons to enhance ERP functionality.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams (e.g., finance, supply chain, human resources) for seamless ERP integration.
- Develop and maintain system documentation, including user manuals and technical guides.
- Prepare training materials and provide end-user training.
- Establish and manage end-user database access control levels.
- Provide technical expertise in planning, design, and implementation of projects, including asset management and grid operations.
- Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in ERP technologies.
- Monitor system performance and optimize configuration, database tuning, or application performance.
- Ensure compliance with legislative, regulatory, and Health & Safety policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with IT security and compliance teams for data security and regulatory compliance.
- Manage project timelines, deliverables, and tasks, including disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
- Act as a liaison between stakeholders and the solution team, facilitating communication and coordination.
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with ERP system vendors, consultants, and service providers.
- Assist in the development and monitoring of key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Demonstrate professional conduct and align with Alectra’s core values of safety, teamwork, and customer focus.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned to support operational objectives
What You’ll Do
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies Education & Specialized Knowledge- College diploma or university degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, business administration, or finance.
- Strong understanding of database structures and ERP systems, particularly JD Edwards.
- Proficiency with MS Office, Project, Visio, and SQL developer for ERP implementation and analysis.
- In-depth understanding of utility industry processes and regulatory requirements.
- Strong knowledge of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and Business Analysis lifecycle process.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a business analysis/solution architect role.
- Experience with JD Edwards ERP systems and diverse IT environments.
- Experience in a unionized utility environment is an asset.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Effective project planning and execution abilities.
- Proven ability to collaborate and build relationships with stakeholders.
- Highly organized, adaptable, and resourceful.
- Work performed in an environment with minor or almost no exposure to challenging conditions.
