We're looking to fill one to two (1-2) full-time, 40+ hour a week positions for a direct-hire Non-CNC, Manual Machinist / Machine Operator.
- Minimum of 3 Year(s) with MANUAL/ANALOG boring mills and lathes - CNC experience does not translate to our machines, which are 1970s and older with no digital readouts.
- $23.00 - $29.00 per hour, depending on experience
- Minimum 40 hours per week with occasional possibility of overtime (as needed and at the discretion of production managers)
- Days of Operation: Monday to Friday - Overtime can extend to Saturdays
- Daily Shift: 06:00AM to 02:30PM
Overtime Opportunities: Possibility of overtime as needed and at the discretion of production manager
- Select, set up and prepare machines, equipment, and dies to start a production (calibration, cleaning etc.), control and adjust machine settings (e.g. speed) or adjust sizing dies/rings, feed raw material or parts to semi-automated machines, et cetera
- Utilize precise formulae and mathematics to measure, inspect, and adjust throughout process for each product and process
- Test operation of machines and equipment periodically and perform regular maintenance, informing management of issues not resolved, problematic for production quality, and/or hazardous
- Fix issues that might occur during the shift and ensuring a relatively "clean" working area
- Check output to spot any machine- or operator-related mistakes or flaws
- Maintain activity logs, perform initial and final inspection of work between moving departments with precision tools, work order updating, et cetera
- Move and store deliveries of materials to relevant department
- Manually cut, trim, and shape fabricated metal parts with hydraulic presses, boring mills, lathes, torches, grinders, and sledgehammer work.
- Prepare and protect products for shipping through acid dipping, sandblasting, grinding, etching, wrapping in cardboard and plastic, banding, and pallet-building.
- Move products and materials between departments using forklifts (training provide - this portion comprises less than 5% of daily duties)
- Ensure a safe work environment through general maintenance of facility and adherence to safety signage and training
- Assist in other departments as needed
- Read, write, and speak English - all documentation, training, and communication is in English
- Proven experience as a machine operator or machinist – Please note that much of our equipment is more analog, circa 1970 in manufacture; we do not use CNC machines.
- Knowledge of diverse analog, high-speed machinery – particularly boring mills and such lathes
- Advanced understanding and comfortability with measurement tools such as caliper, micrometer, tape measure, et cetera
- Ability to read orders and interpret written instructions in procedures, on work orders, and logs
- Ability to troubleshoot annotations and understand schematic
- Understanding of production procedures
- Adherence to health and safety regulations (e.g. constant use of protective gear)

- Physical stamina and strength - Minimum Lift Weight: 50lbs; capable of swinging a sledgehammer or holding up a grinder continuously (~20lbs)
- Physical stamina and strength - Able to weather higher temperatures: the shop will be quite hot during the warmer months, over 110°F (our shop is not air conditioned, but does have some air flow during operating hours)
- First-aid training/certification - a plus
