Job Title: Manual Machinist


Department: CV/LV FLSA Job Status:


Location: Total Valve

POSITION SUMMARY: Produces machined parts by setting up and operating a machine; maintaining quality and safety standards; keeping records; maintaining equipment and supplies. This machinist will produce precision parts used in industrial sectors. Will involve fabrication, modifying and repair of valve components.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:

· Experienced machinist responsible for manually operating machines and producing complex production and parts to high tolerance design specifications in an accurate and timely manner

· Operates all equipment and tools with the utmost attention to safety.

· Capable of reading and understanding: outside and inside micrometers, Vernier calipers, Vernier height and depth gauges.

· Operates manual horizontal and vertical milling and lathe machining.

· Studies blueprints, drawings, schematics, engineering information, or sample parts to determine product dimensions and tolerances as well as best method and sequence of operations needed to fabricate parts.

· Selects appropriate tools, machines, and materials to be used for machining work.

· Aligns / secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, and materials onto machines

· Sets up and operates various mills and/or lathes.

· Monitors the feed and speed of machines during the machining process.


· Verifying correct material


· Assist in other areas as needed.


· Single point threading

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Maintains safe operations by keeping work area clean and organized and by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.

· Maintains equipment by completing basic preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; initiating repair work orders.

· Maintain continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.

· Documents actions by completing required paper and/or electronic logs.

· Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.


· Participate in required meetings and training.


· Some overtime and weekend.

Education and Experience:


· Must have Manual Machine Experience


· Strong Mechanical Aptitude


Language Skills:

· Ability to read and interpret common scientific and technical journals and blueprints.


Mathematical Skills:

· Ability to apply concepts such as basic fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.


Computer & Software Skills:

· Must be able use personal computer to access and retrieve information.


Reasoning Ability:


· Above-Average Mechanical Reasoning Ability
