AMP is hiring an Environmental, Health and Safety Specialist (EHS) on site
in
Portsmouth, Virginia.As our Environmental, Health and Safety Specialist (EHS)
you will be responsible for assisting the EHS Specialist in creating and enforcing a culture of safety within our organization and jointly implement programs, policies, and assessments to enable our zero-incident workspace goal.
- Assist with a standardized review process of accidents and incidents with attention to assisting with root cause, corrective actions, and reporting.
- Contribute to and implement the Environmental, Health and Safety
Curriculums and Plans.
- Coordinate and instruct training program material in general safety and OSHA safety and facility training.
- Coordinate with the EHS Specialist and facility management personnel on facility deficiencies and periodic safety inspections.
- Ensure inspections by regulatory agencies are coordinated and deficiencies are minimized and corrected.
- Maintain all logs and documentation associated with permits and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain and update as needed Standard Operating Guidelines for all safe work practices and equipment and support their use in day-to-day operations.
- Maintain filing systems regarding worker training and safety.
- Monitor industry regulatory issues.
- Participate in institutional professional development and training.
- Participate in the development of safety guidelines and related health, safety, and environmental communications and education information.
- Practice safe working techniques and re-enforce the safety policies, guidelines, and procedures as set out by the Company.
- Provide advice, assistance, and direction to ensure that an effective health, safety, and environmental culture is implemented and working.
- Provide daily guidance and direction in health, safety, and environmental programs at the employee and supervisor level to ensure a common and effective approach.
- Responsible for coordinating regulatory programs and its applications and help support the compliance process.
- Coordinate and lead safety committees.
- Support facility growth and expansion:
- Air permitting
- Land-use permitting
- CO permitting
- Recycling/ Waste minimization activities
- Regulatory issues
- Safety equipment
- Support certification activities including but not limited to ISO and OSHA.
- Handle confidential information.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

- Basic math and statistical skills.
- Working knowledge of Federal/ State Regulatory Requirements (OSHA, DOT, EPA).
- Working knowledge of chemical safety and hygiene.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent decision making skills.
- Ability to negotiate.
- Mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize workload.
:
- Bachelor’s degree in any applicable and related field.
- Two or more years experience in a manufacturing, construction, or industrial environment leading environmental and safety compliance.
- Safety certifications (CSP, ASP, SMS, OHST, CHST, STS, STSC, CET) are a plus.
- Working knowledge and experience with 16 OSHA.
- Working knowledge and experience with standard organizations including NFPA, ANSI, and ASME

Travel:
This role requires frequent travel to other AMP One sites during the pre-launch and ramp-up period of our Portsmouth, Virginia facility. Once the Portsmouth, VA facility is fully functional, this person could expect ~10-30% travel.
