Accounts Payable Specialist - I

Ward Electric Company is currently hiring a full-time, team-oriented Accounts Payable Specialist I to work out of the company’s Longmont headquarters. The Accounts Payable Specialist position is responsible for accurately entering and coding vendor invoices for payment within accounting system. This role plays a key part in ensuring timely processing of invoices, maintaining accurate financial records, and supporting strong vendor relationships through effective communication and attention to detail.

Job Responsibilities

- Manage daily invoice workflow, including receiving, organizing, and routing invoices for approval

- Review invoices for accuracy, completeness, and proper documentation

- Enter and code invoices into the accounting system in a timely manner

- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies as needed

- Maintain clear and professional communication with vendors to address questions or concerns

- Ensure all work is handled with high level of confidentiality and integrity

- Support continuous improvement of accounts payable processes and data accuracy

- Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

- High School Diploma or equivalent

- Understanding of basic accounting principles

- General knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

- Ability to analyze data and identify discrepancies

- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

- Effective communication and interpersonal skills

- High level of professionalism and integrity

- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality

- Sound decision making

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

- Experience with accounting and invoice coding

- Excellent attention to detail

- Strong organizational skills and time management skills

- Proven experience in data entry

Additional Details/Work Environment

- Pay: $20-28/Hour (Dependent on Experience)

- 40 Hours/Week

- Standard office hours Monday - Friday

- Work is performed in a typical office environment that requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards. Consists of sedentary work, can lift up to 10 pounds. Substantial movements of hands, wrists, and /or fingers. Required to have close visual acuity to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures or viewing a computer screen.
