Accounting Specialist

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Accounting Specialist to support a wide range of financial and operational accounting functions. The ideal candidate will have strong technical accounting skills, experience with GL operations, and the ability to prepare accurate financial reports and analyses. This role plays a critical part in maintaining the integrity of financial data, supporting management decision-making, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards.

Key Responsibilities

· Prepare, review, and enter transactions into accounting software, including General Ledger (GL), Accounts Receivable (AR), Payroll (PR), Accounts Payable (AP), and Inventory.

· Prepare monthly financial statements and related management reports for review and analysis.

· Monitor AR balances, identify delinquent accounts, and perform follow-up collection actions as needed.

· Develop and prepare the annual operating budget.

· Prepare schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation for the annual audit.

· Record and maintain fixed asset activity, including purchases, disposals, depreciation, and construction-in-progress.

· Generate monthly reports such as sales summaries, water loss reports, and internal usage analyses.

· Review and monitor industry and municipal usage data and process related billing adjustments.

· Reconcile monthly bank statements and other balance sheet accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness.

Qualifications

· Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.

· 2–5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a GL-focused role.

· Strong understanding of GAAP and standard accounting procedures.

· Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel.

· Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and time-management skills.

· Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Pay: $52,000.00 - $62,000.00 per year
