Whibco, Inc. seeks a qualified Accounting Specialist for our corporate office in Cumberland County, New Jersey. The Accounting Specialist position reports to the Controller and is responsible for conducting billing, accounts payable, and accounts receivable functions along with occasional bookkeeping, clerical, and administrative functions.
Whibco, Inc. was founded in 1841 and is America’s first producer of sand for use in the metal casting industry. The company is privately-owned and operated and is a regional leader in the industrial sand and construction materials industry. Whibco’s headquarters and mining operations are located in beautiful Southern New Jersey; providing a reasonable cost of living, yet in close proximity to urban centers, the beach and recreational opportunities.
- Monitor, edit and release daily product invoices as generated by plant personnel.
- Record implementation of all cash sales on a company wide basis.
- Implementation and processing of customers on special terms.
- Monitor the phone system and office entrance door.
- Timely and accurate review of invoices received by the company.
- Verification of proper payment authorization on invoices.
- Ensuring invoice is original and has not been duplicated within the system.
- Verification of trucker invoices for prepaid freight customers.
- Preparation of accounts payable checks on a daily or weekly basis as authorized by the Controller.
- Answer vendor inquiries on account status, promise and schedule payments within prescribed authority.
- Assist in monthly accounts payable analysis and closing of monthly records.
- Monitor trade receivables to ensure receipt of payment with reasonable terms.
-Record receipt of all cash receipts, credits issued, and discounts earned by customers.
- Research short payments to determine whether credit memo issuance is appropriate.
- Conduct credit checks on new accounts prior to opening accounts.
- Produce weekly and monthly accounts receivable reports on a timely and accurate basis.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and QuickBooks.
· Three to five years of previous accounting experience preferred.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
