Krengel Manufacturing designs, builds, and die casts a wide variety of parts for the utility, automotive and transportation industries. With over 50 years of experience, Krengel is a female-owned, privately held business headquartered in Eastlake, OH.
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Tool & Die Supervisor to lead our tooling operations with precision and expertise. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the design, fabrication, maintenance, and repair of dies used in manufacturing processes. Your leadership will ensure that all tooling meets the highest standards of quality, accuracy, and efficiency, supporting our production teams in delivering exceptional products.
- Lead and manage all activities associated with tool and die requests, innovation and equipment needs.
- Supervise Tool & Die team including managing the apprentice program, conduct training and ensure effective documentation for training and work standards.
- Utilize machining skills and equipment knowledge to make and repair tools and dies, such as CNC vertical mills, Conversational lathes, Horizontal boring mills, Surface grinders, ID/OD grinders, Wire EDM, Sinker EDM and Die making.
- Collaborate with customers/vendors to assess data and resolve quality issues or constraints.
- Oversee and contribute to the implementation and completion of a variety of tool and die responsibilities such as rebuilding, maintaining and reverse-engineering broken or damaged parts on die casting dies.
- Troubleshoot tooling issues. Ensure die produces components that meet required specifications.
- Perform all duties associated with supervising/leading a small tool and die team, such as performance management, training, staffing, team development, communication, and day-to-day operations
- Ensure company policies and health, safety, and employment standards are followed.
- Maintain detailed records of tooling specifications, maintenance schedules, schematics, and inspection reports to support continuous improvement initiatives
- High School Diploma or GED
- An associate or bachelor’s degree, a plus
- Proven experience supervising toolmaking or die shop operations within a manufacturing environment
- Ability to read blueprints and technical documentation with attention to detail
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate a team while maintaining safety standards in a manufacturing setting
- Strong math skills necessary for precise measurements and calculations essential in tooling operations
- Ability to work as part of a team and collaborate effectively.
- In-depth or working industry knowledge.
- Understanding of relevant health and safety regulations
- Comfortable with workplace technology, software, and machinery
- Ability to climb ladders, stand, bend, stoop, stretch, lift, and carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs. (not constantly)
