We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Tool & Die Working Supervisor to lead our tooling and machining teams. This role involves overseeing the design, fabrication, maintenance, and repair of tools and dies used in our manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge, expertise in machining techniques, and leadership skills to ensure precision, efficiency, and safety across all tooling operations. Duties
- Supervise daily operations of tool and die fabrication, repair, and maintenance teams to meet production schedules.
- Oversee the setup and operation of CNC lathes, CNC milling machines, stamping presses, and other machining equipment to produce high-precision tools and dies.
- Collaborate with design engineers using CAD software such as SolidWorks and AutoCAD to develop detailed schematics for tooling projects.
- Ensure all machining processes adhere to GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) standards for precision quality control.
- Manage the use of electrical discharge machining (EDM), CNC programming, CAM programming, and fabrication techniques for complex toolmaking tasks.
- Maintain accurate documentation of schematics, measurements with micrometers and calipers, and inspection reports using precision measuring instruments.
- Enforce safety protocols, promote best practices in welding, fabrication, assembly, and tooling operations to foster a safe working environment. Requirements
- Proven experience supervising tool & die or machining teams within a manufacturing setting.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in machining operations including CNC lathe, CNC milling machine, stamping press, and hand tools.
- Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks and AutoCAD for designing tooling components.
- Skilled in CNC programming, CAM programming, GD&T standards, and electrical discharge machining (EDM).
- Knowledge of plastics injection molding processes is a plus.
- Ability to read schematics and technical drawings accurately; experience with fabricating from schematics is essential.
- Excellent math skills for precise measurements using micrometers, calipers, and other precision instruments.
- Familiarity with welding techniques and fabrication methods required for tool construction or repair.
- Mechanical aptitude combined with manufacturing expertise in tooling development, machining processes, assembly techniques, and use of hand tools.
