- At the senior level of the project controls scheduling and planning discipline, this role is responsible for independently managing increasingly complex assignments that support project execution requirements and ensuring alignment across the project management team. The Senior Project Scheduler develops, details, expands, and maintains project schedules for one or more projects managed by the department. Schedule planning and development are performed in close collaboration with cross‑functional project stakeholders.
- A key function of the role is the development of fully integrated schedules and close partnership with the Cost Lead to cost‑load activities, supporting schedule‑sourced time‑phased planning, earned value reporting, and time‑phased forecasting. The Senior Project Scheduler ensures all project teams leverage the company’s project controls standards, policies, procedures, and systems.
- Provide planning and scheduling expertise and manage master project schedules for planning, procurement, engineering, construction, and maintenance activities.
- Adhere to company scheduling standards for the development, maintenance, and implementation of project schedules.
- Maintain and update baseline and forecast schedules as projects progress from development through closeout. This includes:
- Incorporating physical progress from Field Controls Analysts and other reporting sources
- Applying approved changes into baseline schedules
- Updating forecast dates with Control Account Manager input
- Interpret schedule performance and communicate risks, trends, and impacts to the Project Manager, including analyzing schedule updates and resource‑loading implications.
- Provide technical guidance on scheduling, planning, and logistics, including development of detailed “what‑if” schedules, identification of critical paths, and logic‑driven scenario options.
- Interface with project staff and Control Account Managers to gather accurate dates, sequencing, scope details, logic, and budgets for timely and accurate schedule updates.
- Cost‑load detailed activities in the master schedule to establish a performance measurement baseline integrated with the cost management system, including defining rules of credit for earned value reporting.
- Partner closely with the Project Cost Controller to maintain accurate and aligned cost‑schedule integration.
- Coordinate with third‑party and subcontractor schedulers to ensure compliance with company scheduling requirements and compatibility for integration into the master schedule.
- Align schedule activities across internal and external stakeholders to ensure engineering deliverables, procurement plans, construction sequencing, and commissioning dates meet project timelines.
- Represent the department by providing analytical insights, coordination, and direction on project scheduling and associated external activities.
- Provide technical and business input for project completion documentation, including reports, schedule updates, and planning‑related submissions.
- Apply rolling‑wave planning to develop detailed execution‑ready schedules across all functional areas (Engineering, Environment, Land/ROW, Procurement, Construction, Commissioning, etc.).
- Collaborate with the Field Controls Analyst to produce weekly construction progress reports.
- Facilitate schedule review and update meetings with the Project Manager and other stakeholders.
- Participate in project meetings to stay informed on scope, cost, schedule, and progress changes.
- Expand knowledge and relationships by collaborating with a broad cross‑section of stakeholders within and outside the Major Projects business unit.
- Assist with system enhancement testing when required.
- Recommend process improvements and efficiencies within the planning and scheduling function.
- Support overall project team, functional area, and company goals and objectives.
- Serve as the primary scheduling representative for assigned projects, working closely with the Project Manager, Project Team, and Cost Controller.
- Impacts extend across multiple project assignments and both internal (support departments) and external (suppliers, customers, contractors) stakeholders.
- Tasks are frequently self‑identified and executed independently, with decisions guided by standard practices, processes, and professional judgment.
- Recommendations are generally accepted as technically accurate and feasible, including in specialized or atypical situations.
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and direction to junior and intermediate schedulers/planners.
- Engage in verbal and written communication involving complex technical information and analysis of business implications.
- Coordinate with project controls personnel, project teams, functional departments, and external vendors.
- Provide scheduling expertise and guidance to company staff, contractors, and project partners.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Accounting, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 10 years of planning/scheduling experience on engineering and construction projects (oil and gas experience preferred).
- Expert‑level proficiency with Primavera P6.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Project, Microsoft Timeline Pro, MS Word, SharePoint, and advanced Excel.
- Minimum 5 years of Oil & Gas project experience on large, complex, multi‑scope capital projects (preferably Owner‑side).
- Strong knowledge and application of Earned Value Management (EVM).
- Ability to identify, initiate, and complete tasks independently.

- Ability to prioritize workloads effectively in a fast‑paced environment and resolve issues promptly.

- Primarily office‑based position.
- Occasional overnight travel (up to 10%) to construction sites or other office locations as required.
