Summary Of Position
The Maintenance Superintendent DDS position is accountable for the maintenance planning/scheduling of dragline, drill and shovel machinery. This position is responsible for fleet performance such as availability, preventative maintenance compliance, reliability, and condition based monitoring.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
- Ensure all planning supports the needs of the Mine, consistent with MSHA regulations and NTEC safety standards and policies.
- Manage work group resources to produce optimal scheduling effectiveness.
- Plan/schedule all Dragline, Drill and Shovel maintenance.
- Parts ordering for planned work.
- Ensure parts, equipment and tooling are on site for scheduled work.
- Assist Supervisors in locating resources necessary for unplanned work.
- Maintain database for equipment register (component fitment and defitments) and maintenance scheduling.
- Produce weekly schedules based on primary & secondary work for all work groups in your areas.
- Utilizes information from reliability streams to enact component replacement based on condition monitoring.
- Create and manage standard jobs and applications parts list.
- Ensure MST's are setup and correct.
- Ensure component tracing is up to date and correct.
- Manage DDS cores.
- Coordinate machine maintenance activities with Engineering/Production.
- Knows DDS equipment costs and manages cost to forecast.
- Ensure Maintenance Supervisors have adequate information regarding manpower requirements, estimated downtime, required parts and tooling.
- Effectively communicates information when beginning and completing jobs. This position is the primary source of detailed information for mining equipment for the assigned maintenance and operational areas.
- Ensure all jobs are effectively closed out.
- Coordinates with suppliers, contractors and NTEC personnel to ensure mining activities continue efficiently and uninterrupted.
- Prepare annual budget and quarterly re-forecast using the budget model.
- Supervise DDS Inspectors.
- Other duties as assigned.
- B.S. degree in technical field with 5 years of related mining experience or 8 years of related mining industry experience.
- Basic knowledge of overall operations and demonstrates good practical problem solving ability.
- Comfortable supporting company objectives and directing other employees.

- Proficient with Microsoft Office; Excel and Pivot table experience desired.
- 5 years supervisory experience.
- Prior maintenance experience working on DDS equipment
- Knowledge of Ellipse and Maintenance WorkBench.
- Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is required continuously stand with forward bending and frequently rotating; kneel; and frequently to walk; climb stairs; crouch; squat repetitively; and occasionally crawl. Rarely the employee is required to squat repetitively or reach up to 74". Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
