Maintenance Lead RelyOn Canada Location: Mount Pearl, ML Vacancies: One (1) Employment Type: Full Time
RelyOn Canada is an ISO registered service-based company focused on exceeding our clients' requirements, on time, the first time. We provide safety and survival training to the onshore, offshore Oil & Gas industry, industrial, maritime sectors, civilian and military aviation.
We are accepting applications for Full Full-Time Maintenance Lead position to coordinate all maintenance activities at RelyOn Canada (NL), ensuring that all facilities, simulators, equipment, and infrastructure supporting our training delivery are safe, reliable, compliant, and consistently available for course delivery. We are looking for individuals who are able to operate in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment; will effectively integrate into a team; and are respectful and professional with co-workers, management, and clients.
- Plan, perform or schedule preventive and corrective maintenance to minimize downtime and disruption to training
- Maintain and update the company’s maintenance management system
- Coordinate with Operations and HSEQ to align maintenance priorities with course schedules and operational needs.
- Oversee inspection, testing, troubleshooting, and repair of:
- Offshore survival and safety training systems (e.g. METS, lifeboats, rafts, davits, winches, cranes etc.)
- Confined space, working-at-height, rope access, and industrial services training structures.
- Fire training grounds and systems, including fire simulators, breathing apparatus, compressors and filling stations.
- Site infrastructure: pumps, compressors, generators, HVAC systems, water systems, power distribution, lighting, and control systems.
- Ensure calibration, certification, and functional testing of safety-critical equipment and instruments in line with RelyOn Canada and accreditation standards.
- Manage spare parts, tools, and consumables, including stock levels, ordering, and cost control.
- Ensure all maintenance work is carried out in accordance with RelyOn Canada’s HSEQ policies, local legislation, and industry standards (e.g. CAPP, Transport Canada, OPITO, GWO, ISO, WPNL, etc.)
- Conduct and document regular inspections, risk assessments, and statutory checks (e.g. lifting equipment, pressure systems, fire systems).
- Participate in, or lead where appropriate, incident/near-miss investigations related to facilities and equipment, and ensure implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
- Ensure permits to work, lock-out/tag-out, and other safety systems are properly implemented and followed.
- Plan and perform small to medium-sized maintenance projects, refurbishments, and modifications to training equipment and infrastructure.
- Support the installation, testing, and commissioning of new training systems and equipment
- Identify and implement improvements to increase reliability, safety performance, and cost-effectiveness of maintenance activities.
- Provide input to annual maintenance budgets, capex planning, and supplier selection/evaluation.
- Coordinate and oversee external contractors, ensuring quality, safety, and compliance with RelyOn Canada procedures and site rules
- Build strong working relationships with Admin, Operations, HSEQ, and Commercial teams to support customer-focused delivery
- Prepare and present reports on asset condition, maintenance backlog, KPIs, and major technical issues to management
- Technical diploma or degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Marine, Industrial Maintenance, or related discipline; or equivalent proven experience.
- Strong background in Mechanical systems (winches, cranes, hoists, hydraulics, pumps).
- Experience in maintenance or facilities management in one or more of the following: Offshore, marine, oil & gas, energy, industrial plant, or specialist training environments.
- Familiarity with CAPP, Transport Canada, OPITO, GWO, ISO, WPNL considered an asset
- Strong diagnostic, fault-finding, and problem-solving skills across multi-disciplinary systems.
- Solid understanding of preventive and reliability-centred maintenance practices.
- Proven leadership, team coordination, and mentoring skills.
- Strong safety mindset with the ability to model and enforce best practice.
- Competent IT skills (e.g. MS Office, email, and reporting tools)
- Willingness to work on-site full-time and respond to urgent maintenance issues outside normal working hours when required.
- Physically fit to work in industrial / training environments, including work at height, in confined spaces, and outdoors, subject to medical fit for work assessments as required
- Valid driver’s licence
