An Akron manufacturer is seeking a First Shift Quality Inspector. The principal duties and responsibilities are as follows:
- Performs inspection by measuring dimensions, such as length, height, thickness, diameters, and distance, between reference points, using precision instruments such as micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, to ensure product meets specifications.
- Able to locate reference point(s) on part and measure dimensions using combinations of aids, such as surface plates, parallel bars, gauge blocks, plug pins, V blocks, etc.
- Performs verification on Incoming, In-Process, and Outgoing products.
- Visually compares work pieces against one another to assess/detect manufacturing variations in processes.
- Assists and/or trains operators on part visual acceptability, and measurement and process procedures as required.
- Reports quality problems or findings to Manufacturing Team members and follows up to ensure that corrective action has/will take place. Regularly interacts with Production, Quality, and Engineering Team members.
- Maintains records of inspections, assists with controlling non-conforming product, inter-acts with other departments to ensure compliance with specification and to facilitate the acceptance of parts.
- Participates in product quality and process improvement activities.
- Assists with creation of manufacturing support documentation as required.
A minimum of one-year previous experience using precision hand measuring instruments and computers.
