Responsible for the day-to-day activities of the Delivery Drivers by dispatching by assigning work to the appropriate personnel. Performs the following duties personally and in conjunction with other members of the Dispatch Team. Back up to meter readings.
WORK HOURS Normal work schedule is 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. with a 1-hour lunch break.Occasionally, during our busy season, additional hours may be required to meet our business needs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Responsible for efficient communication, harmonious interaction, and support of co-workers and management team members.
- Effectively dispatch jobs to Delivery Drivers and occasionally Technicians.
- Uses a computer aided dispatch system to enter, update, and retrieve information. Proficient in the use of electronic devices.
- Efficient utilization of vehicles and drivers to meet customers satisfaction.
- Assisting drivers in routing and driving directions regarding deliveries.
- Contacts or responds to delivery personnel to obtain or provide accurate information.
- Prepares reports as needed on a daily or weekly basis or upon request.
- Perform other tasks assigned by Manager to provide general support for company operations.
- Assists in performing tasks of other personnel within the department as needed.
- Communicates with Service/installation regarding Delivery tank issues, whistles. fill/vent, safety issues.
- Communicates with customers by phone or in person and adjusts delivery schedules/forecast types as needed or requested.
- Checks department voice loop and shared department email.
- Reviews log notes in a timely manner.
- Reviews delivery schedules for tank monitor accounts. Reviews projection reports and changes schedule/forecast type to achieve optimal deliveries.
- Add, update, and maintain the tank monitor data base in vendor portal(s).
- Work the various reports such as the stuck gauge report in vendor portals. Updating Palmer Gas & Oil customer database accordingly and creating tickets as needed.
- Install, reset, and replace tank monitors in the field as customer locations. This could be at a home or a business.
- Always maintains and promotes company brand guidelines and core values (Friendly, Simple, Safe).
- Drives a Palmer Gas vehicle over established routes to take meter readings and other assigned duties.
- Must enjoy working outdoors.
- Takes meter tablet and reads meters on residential and commercial buildings.
- Takes tank percentage readings. Report any defective meters to the meter coordinator.
- This job requires a lot of walking and driving to customer locations.
- Occasionally, may have to crawl, kneel and bend to read meters.
