The CNC “A” Machinist on first shift at Everlasting Valve Company is responsible for independently setting up and operating CNC machines to produce precision valve components that meet engineering specifications and quality standards. This senior-level machinist reads blueprints, selects tooling, performs machine adjustments, and conducts in-process inspections to ensure accuracy and efficiency. The role also involves troubleshooting machining issues, maintaining a safe work environment, and supporting continuous improvement efforts.
- Sets up and operates to close tolerance (+/- 0.001”) on CNC V.M.C. to perform such operations as: Boring, milling, drilling, thread milling, ridged tapping and other operations.
- Selects proper tools and settings as required.
- Loads, saves, and adjusts programs.
- Accurately inspects and processes all completed work to detect any defects and take appropriate corrective actions.
- Adjusts, within procedural limits, to fine-tune the process to achieve product conformance.
- Installs fixtures and uses set-up sheets.
- Installs tooling in the magazine changers and indexing and/or replaces inserts.
- Keeps accurate records of time worked on jobs.
- Maintains work area and equipment in an organized manner.
- Monitors speeds and feeds for most efficient and safe operation.
- Reads, interprets, and understands product and process engineering drawings, procedures and quality requirements and applies these to work performed.
- Safely Uses cranes and hoists for material handling.
- Works with engineering and management to develop more efficient ways of machining parts using new concepts or ideas.
- Ability to correctly interpret engineering requirements from blueprints, drawings, and written specifications.
- Ability to correctly perform basic to moderately complex mathematical calculations.
- Ability to correctly perform basic to moderately complex mathematical calculations.
- Ability to read and properly use precise measuring equipment (i.e., dial calipers, micrometers, double column height, etc.)
- Ability to read, understand and follow safety guidelines.
- Ability to work in a dynamic, team-oriented, manufacturing environment.
- Ability to work independently, with a minimum of supervision
- Basic knowledge of MS Excel and MS Word.
- Knowledge of hand tools and mechanical assemblies.
- Knowledge of tooling (both conventional and C.N.C.).
- Should have extensive shop background including measuring tools and devices.
- Strong visual inspection skills are mandatory.
- Minimum of 5 years verifiable experience as CNC Machinist and Programmer in a manufacturing environment
- Must be knowledgeable of CNC Programming and G-Code.
- Okuma (Fanuc controls) 561V and 761V-II, Renishaw Probe familiarity, and Vertical Machine Center experience is desirable
