Job Summary
The Accounting Manager will serve as the financial backbone of Lyons Sandstone, overseeing day-to-day accounting operations, be a part of the company management team, and work closely with ownership. This is a hands-on leadership role for both execution and system development. This position requires deep expertise in accounting for tax purposes, management-based accounting,QuickBooks, a thorough command of GAAP and core accounting principles, and reset our chart of accounts to drive, build, and refine our financial systems. The ideal candidate will fit our casual,detail-oriented, proactive, and eager to grow with the company.
- Interface with the General Manager and owners on department and company activity.
- A key member of the company management team overseeing with weekly oversight.
- Report department tasks, metrics, and KPIs on a weekly basis to the management team.
- Oversee the full AR cycle: invoicing, collections, and aging report management
- Manage the complete AP cycle: vendor invoices, approvals, and timely payments
- Maintain accurate vendor and customer account records
- Serve as the company's QuickBooks expert and primary system administrator
- Design, build, and maintain a comprehensive chart of accounts tailored to our operations
- Ensure data integrity and optimize QuickBooks workflows for the team
- Collect and timely report financial data that is actionable for management decision-making
- Job Costing methodology and reporting showing project level gross profit
- Establish a chart of account and shows profitability by product and product process
- Perform monthly bank, credit card, and account reconciliations
- Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and statements
- Identify variances and discrepancies and drive timely resolution
- Payroll
- Prepare and organize payroll data for processing by our external payroll provider
- Ensure accuracy of hours, deductions, garnishments, and paid time off tracking
- Ability to process internal payroll directly is a strong plus
- Tax Compliance
- Maintain working knowledge of relevant federal and Colorado state tax laws
- Coordinate with external CPA/tax advisors and provide organized financial data for tax filings
- Assist with sales tax reporting and other regulatory compliance requirements
- Build and maintain advanced spreadsheets for budgets, forecasts, and financial analysis
- Present clear financial summaries and insights to company leadership
- Assist other departments in data analysis, data interpretation, and decision-making
