Job Description:

Idaho Power — located in vibrant Bosie, Idaho — is looking for a Wildfire Community and Customer Engagement Specialist to join our Customer Operations team. It’s an exciting time to work for Idaho Power. Our work plays a critical role in communities we serve across Idaho and Oregon, and we’re working hard to provide our customers with the safe, reliable, affordable energy they depend on. While this position is based at Idaho Power’s downtown Boise location, we offer both flexible schedules and the opportunity to work up to 40% remote.

What does a Wildfire Community and Customer Engagement Specialist do for us?

This position will lead the development, successful execution, and continuous improvement of Idaho Power’s Wildfire Mitigation Plan (WMP) Community and Customer Engagement Strategy. With collaboration and guidance, the successful candidate will be responsible for identifying and engaging in year-round opportunities to connect Idaho Power’s Wildfire Mitigation Plan efforts and activities with the communities we serve, while ensuring company preparedness plans reflect the needs of all customers, including unique populations that include Spanish-speaking customers, seniors, and customers with disabilities. This strategy includes conducting public education campaigns, workshops, and training sessions on wildfire mitigation and Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) preparedness and providing technical expertise and guidance for employees, customers, community organizations, and local public safety partners in partnership with regional customer facing positions. Other considerations of this role will include the ability to coordinate with internal Idaho Power Regional and Wildfire Team operations and external public safety partners. Coordinated activities include but are not limited to identifying opportunities for collaborative engagement in external emergency planning and mitigation processes, identifying and establishing community resource center needs, and developing customer programs and offerings to support customers during PSPS or extended outage events. The successful candidate will have comprehensive, specific, and progressive knowledge related to the program or area of discipline.

This role also supports major events, including Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) and load shed. The role provides communications coordination, event‑time support, and post‑event reporting to ensure consistent execution, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement. During PSPS and load shed events, this role serves as a backup to the Event Manager by monitoring event management and communication activities to ensure adherence to established procedures, internal requirements, and applicable regulatory obligations. The role acts as a quality‑control and coordination resource during active events, helping ensure consistency across regions, communication channels and event phases.

The role also supports event preparedness and readiness, including coordinating annual tabletop and functional exercises to ensure teams are prepared to execute roles and processes during major events. Following events, this role helps coordinate the development of after‑action reports, with a strong emphasis on accuracy, attention to detail, and factual documentation. These reports support internal learning, process improvement, and required external reporting. As appropriate, the role may represent the company in after‑action discussions or reporting with executives and regulatory stakeholders.

In addition to the meaningful work we do, we offer work-life balance, competitive pay and benefits, an employee incentive plan, and both a 401k employer-match and a pension plan, making Idaho Power one of the best employers in the state.
