The Warehouse & Shipping Operations Manager is responsible for end-to-end execution of warehouse, material flow, packing, and shipping operations. This role owns daily fulfillment accuracy, warehouse organization, shipping throughput, internal material movement, and coordination with production to meet customer delivery commitments.
This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a working knowledge of ERP-driven material transactions. The successful candidate will build scalable systems, accountability, and disciplined material flow across the facility.
- Own all warehouse activities including receiving, put-away, inventory organization, picking, packing, staging, and shipping
- Establish and maintain clear warehouse layout, location control, and material flow for:
- Manufactured castings
- Purchased product
- Work-in-process
- Finished goods
- Production materials and internal distribution
- Design and enforce standardized picking, packing, and material movement procedures to eliminate miscounts and shipping errors
- Ensure material is staged, delivered, and replenished to support production and shipping priorities
- Implement daily shipping plans to maximize on-time shipments and carrier efficiency
- Ensure all shipments are accurately counted, labeled, documented, and loaded
- Oversee all outbound logistics including:
- Daily FedEx parcel trailer loading
- LTL carrier coordination
- Bill of lading and shipment documentation accuracy
- Strategically plan daily shipment volumes based on:
- Open orders
- Customer priorities
- Production readiness
- Resolve freight claims, shortages, and shipping discrepancies
- Own ERP-related inventory transactions for warehouse and shipping activities
- Ensure all material movements, receipts, shipments, and adjustments are accurately reflected in the ERP system
- Establish cycle counting and reconciliation processes
- Own root cause analysis and corrective actions for:
- Miscounts
- Shipping shortages
- Inventory discrepancies
- Identify systemic issues between physical flow and ERP transactions and bring corrective solutions forward
- Work directly with sales, production, and assembly teams to:
- Identify open orders and shortfalls
- Prioritize work based on shipment commitments
- Align daily production output with shipping and material availability
- Participate in daily or weekly production/shipping coordination meetings
- Communicate clearly and proactively when constraints or risks threaten delivery commitments
- Lead, train, and hold accountable shipping leads and packers
- Establish daily expectations, metrics, and accountability
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to:
- Warehouse efficiency
- Accuracy
- Labor utilization
- Material flow
- Support Lean principles, 5S, SOP development, and process discipline in the warehouse
- On-time shipment percentage
- Shipment accuracy (zero-defect goal)
- Daily shipment throughput vs. plan
- Inventory accuracy
- Order aging and backlog reduction
- Warehouse and material flow organization
- ERP transaction accuracy and timeliness- 5+ years of experience in warehouse, shipping, or materials operations within a manufacturing environment
- Proven experience leading hourly teams
- Hands-on ERP experience required, including inventory transactions, receipts, shipments, and adjustments
- Strong working knowledge of:
- Picking and packing operations
- LTL and parcel shipping
- Inventory control and cycle counting
- Comfortable working in a hands-on, fast-paced production environment
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work cross-functionally and drive accountability
- Lean / 5S experience with real implementation responsibility
- Experience owning material flow beyond finished goods
