Warehouse Spotter

Job Summary:

As a Warehouse Spotter in our facility you'll play a critical role in ensuring the safe movement and positioning of heavy steel pipes/coil within the warehouse environment. Your primary responsibility will be to coordinate the movement of machinery such as forklifts and cranes to efficiently transport and position steel pipes/coil for various production and distribution activities. Your attention to detail, communication skills, and commitment to safety will contribute directly to the smooth operation of our solar projects. Using personal protective equipment (PPE).


Responsibilities:

- Safety Oversight: Maintain constant vigilance over warehouse operations to ensure compliance with safety regulations and guidelines. Monitor the movement of heavy steel pipes/coil and equipment to prevent accidents and minimize risks to personnel and property.

- Spotting Coordination: Collaborate closely with forklift operators, crane operators, and other machinery operators to coordinate the movement and positioning of heavy steel pipes/coils within the warehouse/semi-truck trailer. Provide clear and timely hand signals to guide operators during loading, unloading, and transportation activities.

- Load Management: Assist in the loading and unloading of heavy steel pipes/coils onto and from trucks, trailers, and storage racks as needed. Ensure that loads are properly secured and balanced to prevent shifting or tipping during transit.

- Inventory Control: Work in conjunction with inventory management personnel to track the movement of steel pipes within the warehouse. Assist in conducting physical inventory counts and reconciling discrepancies as necessary.

- Equipment Maintenance: Conduct routine inspections of spotting equipment, such as safety vest/flags, cones, wood, tags and communication devices, to ensure proper functionality. Report any equipment malfunctions or deficiencies to the appropriate lead/supervisor for maintenance or repair.

- Communication: Maintain open and effective communication with warehouse supervisors, equipment operators, truck drivers and other team members to relay important information, coordinate workflow, and address any issues or concerns in a timely manner.

- Emergency Response: Be prepared to respond quickly and effectively to emergency situations, accidents, or equipment failures. Follow established emergency procedures and protocols to ensure the safety of all personnel and identifying potential safety hazards such as slippery floors, obstructed pathways, or unsecured loads, and implementing measures to address these hazards.

- Housekeeping: Assist in maintaining a clean and organized warehouse environment by removing debris, clearing obstructions, and identifying potential safety hazards when loading/receiving. Adhere to housekeeping standards and procedures to promote a safe and efficient work environment.


Qualifications:

- High school diploma or equivalent.

- Previous experience working in a warehouse or industrial setting preferred.

- Familiarity with safety regulations and guidelines governing warehouse operations.

- Ability to effectively communicate and coordinate with team members using hand signals, radios, or other communication devices.

- Strong attention to detail and situational awareness to identify potential safety hazards.

- Physical stamina and agility to stand, walk, and maneuver in a warehouse environment for extended periods.

- Willingness to work in varying weather conditions and temperature extremes.

- Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to safety protocols and procedures.


Working Conditions:

- Work environment may include exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures.

- Required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, gloves, and steel-toed boots.

- May be required to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, or overtime, based on operational needs and project deadlines.


Physical Requirements:

- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds frequently and occasionally up to 75 pounds with assistance or mechanical equipment.

- Requires standing for long periods (8 to 12-hour shifts), as well as frequent bending, squatting, reaching, twisting, and climbing.

- Regular exposure to repetitive hand and arm movements, vibration, and manual handling of materials and tools.

- Must be comfortable working around loud machinery, moving parts, metal shavings, oil, and grease, and temperature-variable environments (hot/cold).

- Must be able to manually feed materials, remove finished parts, and operate mechanical and hydraulic equipment safely.

- Ability to maintain focus and stamina in a fast-paced production environment.

- You must always wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE) when in the production facility (e.g., steel-toe boots, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, and hard hat).


Job Type: Full-time


Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
