The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the maintenance and testing of electric and natural gas compressors, gas fired engines, glycol/water pumps and instrument air systems across Southwestern PA and Northern WV. CNX’s compressor fleet includes both screw and reciprocating units. Electric compression ranges from 40 to 5,000 HP, primarily utilizing Ariel compressors. Gas fired compression ranges from 400 to 2,500 HP CAT and Waukesha natural gas driven units, also primarily Ariel compression. Candidates must have a strong working knowledge of compression systems and engine maintenance. They must be able to safely and efficiently organize projects, supervise contract employees, ensure parts availability, and verify that all work is completed safely, on schedule and in a cost effective manner.

- Perform maintenance and assist with planning, installation and operation of natural gas compressor facilities.
- Analyze mechanical and operational issues and develop corrective action plans.
- Make necessary adjustments to equipment to maintain maximum production and quality.
- Conduct safety inspections and ensure equipment is operating safely and properly.
- Coordinate, schedule, and supervise day to day maintenance operations.
- Anticipate, evaluate, and troubleshoot abnormal or unusual operating conditions.
- Support operations by optimizing equipment availability and maintaining accurate daily logs.
- Oversee material acquisition and cost control for equipment maintenance activities.
- Ensure all services and materials have proper requisitions and purchase order numbers.
- Utilize diagnostic and testing equipment and interpret results accurately.
- Assign and plan work projects, monitor progress, maintain schedules, and develop logical solutions to issues.
- Demonstrate proficiency with dial indicators, micrometers, and other precision measurement tools.
- Work safely in unpredictable field conditions, including moving vehicles, heavy equipment, and adverse weather.
- Must be a highly safety minded individual.
- Requires 3-4 years of related experience.
- Advance knowledge of natural gas driven engines.
- Working knowledge of electrical systems and PLCs.
- Ability to read P&IDs, mechanical drawings and use volt/amp/ohm meters; basic computer skills in Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Strong supervisory and management abilities; must be a motivated self starter who demonstrates integrity.
- Willing and able to work in adverse weather conditions as well as shifts, nights, weekends and holidays as needed.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Must be able to drive safely off-road and in adverse conditions. May require travel.
- This position requires weekly on-call coverage, typically every 4-5 weeks.
