J MAR’s client, a regional HVAC equipment wholesaler, seeks a Senior Accounting Manager to lead two accounting teams (8–10 employees total). This role is responsible for accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and effective team leadership.
- Prepare accurate monthly financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Ensure internal controls are followed and financial statements contain no material misstatements.
- Oversee month-end close, including review of journal entries, reconciliation completion, and reporting accuracy.
- Prepare monthly financial business review reports and management analysis.
- Support the annual external financial audit by providing complete and accurate schedules.
- Ensure compliance with state and local tax filing requirements, including sales and property taxes.
- Assist with the annual budgeting cycle.
- Oversee accounts receivable credit management and ensure adherence to company credit policies.
- Ensure cash-handling procedures and bank deposit requirements are followed.
- Oversee accounts payable to ensure vendors are paid within terms with proper documentation.
- Ensure accurate processing of all payments in compliance with company policy.
- Maintain strong working relationships with internal departments and external customers.
- Conduct annual performance reviews and provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and corrective actions as necessary.
- Hold regular team meetings and ensure staff stay informed on policies, procedures, and changes.
- Participate in hiring, recruiting, and interviewing within established guidelines.
- Provide regular training to ensure staff maintain required technical skills.
- Develop team members by offering learning opportunities and preparing high-performing employees for promotion.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred.
- 3+ years of experience directly managing accounting staff. - 8+ years of professional accounting experience; public accounting or public company experience preferred.- Strong knowledge of GAAP and internal control best practices.
- Ability to create, interpret, and analyze financial reports.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; proficient in Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Experience with ERP or financial systems (preferred but not required).
- Experience in wholesale is helpful but not required.
- Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines.

- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to collaborate across departments and communicate with external stakeholders.
- Ability to travel to Dallas, Texas, as needed; initially may require monthly in-person training and meetings.
