Description
The Financial Reporting Senior Accountant’s main responsibilities include the preparation of monthly journal entries and reconciliations for leases, stock-based compensation, and corporate general accounting. This position supports consolidations and the preparation of consolidated financial statements and related notes. The position is hybrid located in Houston, TX, reporting to the Financial Reporting Manager.
Responsibilities And Essential Job Functions
- Prepare monthly lease accounting journal entries and reconciliations
- Prepare Corporate monthly closing journal entries and reconciliations
- Perform monthly financial statement analytical review procedures
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual GAAP segment and consolidated P&L
- Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual GAAP consolidated Balance Sheet and Statement of Cash Flows
- Prepare notes to consolidated financial statements
- Prepare annual audit schedules
- Support the coordination of the annual audit
- Support accounting for stock-based compensation and related equity recordkeeping
- Research US GAAP technical accounting guidance to ensure compliance with existing standards and understand impact of pending standards
- Assist with the implementation of new accounting standards and advise on accounting treatment for complex or unique transactions
- Support integration of financial reporting for newly acquired or divested entities
- Ensure consistency of financial statement methodologies and classification across entities
- Identify opportunities to further leverage financial systems; improve efficiency and effectiveness of internal and external financial reporting
- Act as a business partner to colleagues across functions and consulting communities Proactively provide information and solutions Serve as a key resource to the organization for accounting and financial reporting guidance and support

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with emphasis in accounting required
- CPA with a minimum of 5 years’ public accounting experience required (Big 4 or large regional firm preferred)
- Broad analytical and technical accounting skills
- Self-motivated Initiates activities with a high degree of drive, passion, and commitment to continuous improvement
- Excellent interpersonal with the ability to interact with and present to stakeholders at all levels
- Ability to prioritize responsibilities effectively to meet strict deadlines Ability to work independently and under time constraints
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Experience with SAP and/or Great Plains
- Ability to form sustainable relationships with colleagues within and across functional areas
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Ability to work full time in an office and remote environment; physically able to sit/stand at a computer and work in front of a computer screen for significant portions of the workday
