Senior Accountant

Boart Longyear’s accounting team is looking for a self-motivated, well organized, analytical individual to assist with General Ledger. This is a great opportunity to join a global company with many possibilities of future advancement within the SSC team and the Company. The individual should possess strong communication skills, the ability to work with cross-functional teams, and be eager to contribute to the success of the department and the company. Here at Boart Longyear, we believe in continual improvement, and this position will be integral in the development of processes within the team.

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required

- 3-5 years direct accounting experiences, preferably in a multi-regional organization

- Proficient in Microsoft Office

- Experience using Oracle software a plus

- Understanding of GAAP and/or IFRS

- Experience in working with foreign currency transactions a plus

- Organized and analytical with relentless attention to detail

- Excellent professional communication skills

Responsibilities:

- Perform monthly closing responsibilities.

- Maintain a master list of monthly journal entries, including accurate and complete work papers with accrual and reversal entries, recording supporting information for all journal entries

- Perform monthly reconciliations, including prepaid accounts, benefit accounts, GST/HST/Use tax accounts and etc

- Assist with audits (both internal and external)

- Communicate, verbally and in writing, with various groups including internal customers and team members to perform work functions.

- Perform Ad-hoc reporting and analysis, as needed

- Identify and implement opportunities to streamline processes and enhance internal controls
