The Operations Manager will play a critical leadership role in supporting Total Directional Services’ expansion into Canada. This position is responsible for overseeing directional drilling and MWD operations, coordinating field personnel, managing operational performance, and ensuring all equipment and third-party resources are in place to deliver safe, efficient, and high-performing well results.
The ideal candidate will bring strong operational expertise, deep industry relationships, and an established network of experienced field hands available for immediate deployment.
- Lead and manage the operational rollout and growth of TDS Energy Services across Canada
- Coordinate and support Directional Drillers and MWD Field Engineers to ensure consistent on-site performance
- Manage coordinators and operational staff responsible for field execution and job delivery
- Organize, track, and ensure readiness of all equipment required for drilling operations
- Maintain a strong working knowledge of motors, MWD systems, and Rotary Steerable Systems (RSS)
- Develop and leverage an established network of DD and MWD field personnel available for rapid mobilization
- Support customer relationships through in-office meetings and ongoing communication with operators
- Establish and maintain partnerships with third-party service providers, including dumb iron suppliers and equipment companies
- Coordinate logistics and sourcing for tools, rentals, and operational support services
- Ensure operations align with company performance standards, safety expectations, and client requirements
- Candidates must demonstrate strong knowledge and experience in:
- Canadian oil and gas plays and regional operating environments
- Directional drilling operations and well delivery workflows
- Measurement While Drilling (MWD) systems and field execution
- Rotary Steerable Systems (RSS) and downhole tool applications
- Field personnel coordination and crew sourcing
- Established contacts for experienced DD and MWD field hands
- MWD and motor repair facilities and service resources
- Dumb iron ordering, vendor relationships, and equipment procurement
- The successful candidate will be:
- Highly organized with strong operational leadership skills
- Relationship-driven with a proven network in the Canadian drilling market
- Capable of supporting both field execution and customer-facing meetings
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced growth environment requiring immediate staffing and mobilization
