The Quality Engineer supports the organization’s Quality Management System (QMS) by driving continuous improvement, reducing scrap and nonconformance costs, and improving process and inspection efficiency. This role partners closely with internal teams, suppliers, and customers to ensure robust root-cause analysis, effective corrective actions, and clear alignment with customer and regulatory requirements. The position also assists with inspection planning and execution as needed.
a. Serve as Program Manager for the Nonconformance (NCR) and Corrective Action Report (CAR) systems.
b. Make first-level decisions on NCR/CAR development, containment, and path forward.
c. Lead root-cause analysis and drive corrective actions to full closure, ensuring documented evidence and effective communication with stakeholders.
d. Coordinate directly with customers regarding disposition requests, approvals, and reporting requirements.
e. Obtain, record, and maintain customer disposition agreements and all related documentation.
f. Act as an initial decision-maker on customer quality concerns, collaborating with internal teams to determine risk, response, and corrective action strategy.
a. Drive continuous improvement of the company’s Quality Inspection Program, including process efficiency initiatives.
b. Assign and coordinate inspection resources (First Article, First Run, In-Process, Outside Process, Final Inspection, CMM) based on production schedules, customer requirements, and risk assessments.
c. Maintain accurate inspection records and ensure compliance with internal and external requirements.
d. Lead the development, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of the Part Inspection Plan (PIP) Program.
a. Serve as the Quality Engineering Data Analyst for production and inspection data.
b. Develop and maintain statistical process analyses for key part numbers in support of decision-making, capability studies, and process improvement efforts.
c. Maintain Gage R&R data and contribute to measurement system capability evaluations and risk assessments.
a. Maintain documentation systems to ensure adherence to federal, regulatory, and customer-specific requirements.
b. Ensure proper completion and recordkeeping of REACH, RoHS, CMTR, MDR, Prop 65, USMCA, and other applicable certifications.
c. Support ITAR/DDTC compliance expectations as applicable to engineering and quality documentation.
a. Perform other duties as assigned to support departmental and organizational goals.
1. Advanced capability in blueprint reading and interpretation of customer and industry specifications.
2. Deep understanding of inspection and quality assurance methodologies.
3. Strong communication skills with the ability to lead initiatives independently and with timely follow-up per company best-practice communication standards.
4. Advanced root-cause analysis capability using industry-standard tools and methods.
5. High accuracy and attention to detail in reviewing, approving, and generating reports.
6. Ability to collaborate effectively with customers and internal stakeholders.
7. Advanced skill in using hand measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, gages).
8. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications for reporting and data analysis.
9. Strong organizational and time-management skills with minimal oversight.
10. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
1. Bachelor’s degree in engineering, quality management, other related field OR at least 8 years’ combined experience as a Quality Inspector, Quality Coordinator, Quality Specialist, and/or Quality Engineer in a similar industry
2. 5+ years’ experience working in an ISO 9001, AS9100, or ISO 13485 manufacturing environment
