About This Job


Primary Purpose of Position

Reporting to the Quality Manager, the incumbent is responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of quality systems in line with IATF16949. The role is pivotal in continuous improvement activities pertaining to the quality function within the business and is critical in maintaining sound customer relationships.


Major Responsibilities of Position

- Customer Service: Front line responders to Customer Quality complaints. Ensuring that customer concerns are properly dealt with utilizing problem-solving tools and Corrective Actions (CA’s). Interfacing with the customer to maintain a full and accurate information flow.

- Communication: Act as the liaison, when required, between the customer and plant team to ensure that issues are resolved with urgency, mutual consent, and satisfaction. Facilitate and coordinate meetings to address customer complaints, providing necessary information to facilitate team decisions. Facilitate discussions and actively participate in APQP process.

- Quality: Manage measurement issues including gauge design and methods, and production GR&R approval/analysis. Pursuing resolution of internal and external quality issues. Be involved in the process of the measurement of parts on lab and layout equipment. Promoting the implementation and effective use of quality systems and techniques including management system documents and procedures. Perform annual GR&R, CP and FMEA reviews where required.

- Lead: Assisting/champion the development and implementation of Quality Systems including Control Plans, Measurement Systems Analysis, Instructions, FMEA's, DOE’s and management system documents and procedures.

- Data Analysis: Analyze data and information from various information sources as a resource for problem resolution to provide accurate information based on team decisions. Involved in requested layout support, reviewing data, following tooling progressions and changes. Monitor plant process performance reacting as necessary to undesirable conditions.

- Reporting: PPAP preparation and submission, Product Engineering, Engineering changes, run at rate. Monthly review and reporting of service and OEM customer scorecards and forwarding to Quality Facilitator.

- Training: Train team members in quality systems and procedures. Encouraging use and understanding of the quality tools and systems in production including SPC and CAs. Work with the team to ensure all plant goals are met, promoting customer satisfaction

- Documentation: Analyzing, documenting and reporting issues of customer returns. Ensure monthly all current service and OEM customers’ special requirement are up to date by forwarding latest revisions to Quality Facilitator.

- Other duties as required, including special projects as they arise.

Personal Competencies (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Attributes):

- Advanced knowledge of automotive quality systems IATF-16949 and standards.

- Good presentation and customer service skills.

- Proficiency in problem solving and data analysis.

- Time/priority management skills to meet or exceed targets for launch activities and managing multiple projects.

- Microsoft Office Professional with advanced Excel skills.

- Project management knowledge to be on time and within budget.

Physical demands

- Ability to stand, walk, sit with simple grasping and manual dexterity required

- Ability to occasionally climb or balance and reach with hands out in front and occasionally lift up to ten pounds

- Must be able to talk and hear over 2/3 of the time. Must have vision at or corrected to 20/20.

- Must be able to drive

- Must have the ability to tolerate the above requirements for a minimum of 8 hours daily


Work Environment

- Automotive manufacturing environment; salary office supporting role with standard hours of 7:00 am to 4:00 pm. Position is overtime exempt; however, overtime to ensure task accomplishment is expected

- Production Environment: 25% of the time, includes exposure to industrial safety hazards, loud and sudden noises, hot/humid conditions. Extreme temperatures during the summer and winter months can be expected

- Office Environment: 75% of the time, busy office with frequent interruptions and multi-tasking required; standard office equipment available.


Educational and Certification Background

Bachelors’ (or higher) degree in an engineering discipline or Technical College diploma (CET or similar) combined with work experience on the field of study - Essential

A Minimum of 2 years quality assurance experience within automotive manufacturing - Essential

Quality Engineering designation ASQ CQE or equivalent, and Six Sigma Green Belt designation - Desirable

Knowledge of die casting processes (or similar i.e. injection molding, stamping etc) - Desirable

Certified ISO/IATF Lead Auditor Certification or Certified ISO/IATF Internal Auditor - Desirable


Pay: $74,537.00 - $100,000.00 per year
