Actalent Engineering is seeking qualified candidates for a Quality Engineering opening with a plastics manufacturer that is located in the Reading, PA area. This person will be responsible for planning and conducting activities concerned with the quality assurance of industrial processes, materials and products.
Below is a summary of responsibilities for this position:
- Participate in advanced quality planning activities during design and contract reviews.
- Interface with Customers, Customer Service, Sales, Engineering and Production personnel to transfer new products to the production floor.
- Support inspectors to ensure processes and inspections are sound so that products are produced to specification.
- Develop Validation strategies, protocols and reports for products and processes as needed
- Perform PPAP activities as needed
- Participate in Audits as assigned
- Examine inspection procedures and documentation and make improvements where required.
- Develop training as required to build Quality Awareness and to support updates in work instructions and procedures.
- Improve the quality of a given process using data collected and by applying problem solving and statistical techniques to the process.
- Applies statistical process control (SPC) methods for analyzing data to evaluate the current process and process changes.
- Inspect incoming, in-process and final product for conformance to specifications using both open surface plate layout and CMM inspection.
- Perform the final evaluation of materials and manufactured parts which do not meet specification.
- Help analyze product failures, prepare and apply corrective actions to customers.
- Perform GR&R and Process Capability studies to assist with product validations.
- Performs quality engineering reviews of design documentation for compliance with customer specifications.
- Communicates significant issues or developments identified during quality assurance activities and provides recommended process improvements.
- Maintains a working knowledge of current revisions of ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 with proficiency of the core tool set from AIAG.
- Perform all work procedures according to established Quality Management & Environmental Management Systems.
- Any other duties as assigned by the QA Manager.
Below is a summary of requirements for qualified candidates:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline (preferred)
- 5+ years of experience working as a Quality Engineer in a manufacturing environment- A strong understanding of ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 Standards
- The ability to prioritize work flow, multi-task and problem solve in a fast-paced environment
- Plastics manufacturing experience is preferred but not required
- Strong desire to seek continuous in quality to help drive overall company performance
