Job Title: Machinist- Manufacturing

Location: Sauget, Illinois

Employment Type: Full-Time

Salary Range: $23.00 – $27.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications

Job Summary: We are seeking a hands-on, mechanically inclined Machinist to join our manufacturing team. This position involves working with legacy manual machines to produce precision components. A strong foundation in blueprint reading, measurement techniques, and machining principles is essential. Candidates must be prepared to demonstrate competency through a pre-employment skill assessment.

Responsibilities:

- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and CAD models.

- Set up and operate manual machines such as lathes, mills, and grinders.

- Measure and inspect finished products to ensure they meet specifications and tolerances.

- Perform routine maintenance on machines and tools

- Collaborate with engineers and production staff to improve processes and product quality.

- Maintain a clean and safe work environment

- Adapt to legacy equipment with minimal automation; troubleshoot using hands-on diagnostic skills.

- Modify and adjust machine settings manually to maintain output quality and precision.

- Use precision measuring instruments, including micrometers, vernier calipers, dial indicators, scales, and surface plates—with emphasis on calibration and accuracy

- Apply mathematical concepts including trigonometric functions and angle calculations to machine setup and part production

Qualifications:

- High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training preferred.

- Proven experience as a machinist in a manufacturing environment.

- Proficiency in using precision measuring tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers).

- Strong math and analytical skills.

- Excellent attention to detail and manual dexterity.

- Must be able to pass a machining competency test.

Physical Requirements:

- Ability to stand for extended periods.

- Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs.

- Comfortable working in a noisy, fast-paced environment.

Pay Range:

21.60 - 26.40
