South Central Power Company, Ohio’s largest electric cooperative, is seeking a highly motivated individual to fill the position of IT Systems Administrator.
The IT Systems Administrator is responsible for ensuring the stability, security, and performance of the organization’s core IT infrastructure. Responsibilities also include managing and maintaining server systems, virtualization platforms, and Active Directory environments, while supporting disaster recovery processes and adhering to industry best practices. The IT Systems Administrator provides proactive and responsive technical support, collaborates with IT team members to resolve complex issues, and contributes to planning for system upgrades and future technology needs. Responsibilities include strong documentation practices, a commitment to organizational values, security standards, and continuous improvement. The role also requires delivering comprehensive technical support, including troubleshooting and user training, through phone, remote, onsite, and on-call assistance.
We are looking for candidates with strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with various levels of management, end users and vendors in a friendly, encouraging and thoughtful manner. Candidates should possess organizational and written skills with the ability to work on multiple incidents or assignments simultaneously. The successful applicant will be highly self-motivated and capable of exercising good judgment in decision making involving calculated risk.
This position will report out of our Lancaster office. Occasional travel to our 2 district offices is required. The IT Systems Administrator will report directly to the IT Systems Manager.
- An undergraduate degree in computer science or comparable experience required. Enterprise hypervisor certification, MCSE/MCSA and/or equivalent are preferred. Linux experience is a plus.
- A minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in IT systems administration including working knowledge of user troubleshooting techniques is required.
- Strong knowledge of enterprise infrastructure and technologies. Expert proficiency in Windows Server, Exchange Online and Active Directory/Azure including GPO objects.
