We are seeking an Industrial Mechanical (HVAC) Designer to join our Edmonton-based team. This role is focused on leading the design, analysis, and delivery of HVAC and plumbing systems for industrial facilities, including industrial plants, mining, energy, and large infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership, mentor junior engineers, and work closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, efficient, and constructible designs.
- 8+ years of experience in industrial HVAC and plumbing system design;
- Diploma from an accredited Technical program, or equivalent;
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems for industrial environments (dust control, make-up air, exhaust, hazardous areas, redundancy);
- Experience with 2D/3D design and analysis tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, MicroStation, or similar);
- Experience with the design and drafting of HVAC drawings (layouts, plans, details, schematics, schedules etc.)
- Provide technical oversight and quality control for HVAC designs;
- Ensure designs comply with Canadian codes and standards (ASHRAE, CSA, NBC, NFPA, B149, NPC, and ABSA where applicable)
- Familiarity with industrial safety and reliability requirements;
- Ability to interface with clients, project managers, and other disciplines (mechanical, electrical, structural, instrumentation & controls, process);
- Support constructability reviews, commissioning planning, and site support during construction (as required);
- Contribute to project proposals, scope development, and cost estimates;
- Ability to mentor and support the professional development of junior engineers and designers.
- Experience in industrial facilities such as oil & gas, mining, oil sands, power generation, chemical, etc.;
- Field experience supporting construction and commissioning (as required);
- Previous technical leadership or discipline lead experience;
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to work with clients and project teams.
