We are seeking an Industrial HVAC Engineer to join our Edmonton-based team. This role is focused on the design, analysis, and delivery of HVAC and plumbing systems for industrial facilities, including industrial plants, mining, energy, and large infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership, mentor junior engineers, and work closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, efficient, and constructible designs.
- 8+ years of experience in industrial HVAC and plumbing system design;
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent;
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.), Professional Licensee Engineer (P.L.(Eng.)) or Professional Technologist (P.Tech.(Eng.)) registered in Alberta (APEGA) or eligible for immediate registration;
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems for industrial environments (dust control, make-up air, exhaust, hazardous areas, redundancy);
- Ensure designs comply with Canadian codes and standards (ASHRAE, CSA, NBC, NFPA, B149, NPC, and ABSA where applicable);
- Perform heating/cooling/ventilation load calculations, equipment sizing, airflow analysis (duct sizing & static pressure calculations), sanitary sizing, system optimization etc.;
- Develop and review engineering deliverables, including calculations, specifications, and technical reports;
- Provide technical oversight and quality control for HVAC designs;
- Familiarity with industrial safety and reliability requirements;
- Leadership of the design and engineering of industrial HVAC and plumbing systems;
- Interface with clients, project managers, and other disciplines (mechanical, electrical, structural, instrumentation & controls, process);
- Support constructability reviews, commissioning planning, and site support during construction (as required);
- Contribute to project proposals, scope development, and cost estimates;
- Mentor and support the professional development of junior engineers and designers.
- Experience in industrial facilities such as oil & gas, mining, oil sands, power generation, chemical, etc.;
- Field experience supporting construction and commissioning (as required);
- Experience in the preparation of construction or engineering work packages would be an asset.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work with clients and project teams.
