Northern Star (Pogo) LLC is currently seeking a Human Resources Coordinator (Generalist) to support our high-performing Human Resources team at the Pogo Gold Mine in Alaska. This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity will work in the Fairbanks Office to work in a dynamic mining environment where your contributions directly support a growing and evolving workforce.

•Spend 4 days per month on site at the Pogo mine to support the Human Resources team and respond to operational HR needs and employee inquiries.
What's the role?
•The Human Resources Coordinator plays a key role in supporting HR functions and processes across the employee lifecycle. You will provide day-to-day HR administrative support, facilitate onboarding, benefits coordination, HRIS updates, reporting, and assist in compliance with HR policies and procedures.
Specific Departmental Requirements:
•Support onboarding, benefits enrollment, workers' compensation, leave processes, and general employee inquiries.
•Support the recruitment team through conducting reference checks, arranging pre-employment physicals, and scheduling interviews.
•Maintaining an annual Career Fair/Day Schedule and organizing in conjunction with the Human Resources Manager.
•Maintain up-to-date position descriptions and HR forms
•Assist with HR data collection, monthly and annual reporting (e.g., leave, benefits, 401(k), ADP)
•Conduct audits and maintain accurate HRIS, payroll, and personnel data
•Coordinate training activities and track attendance/completion
•Assist with compliance tasks related to FMLA, FLSA, MSHA, and labor regulations
•Process human resources invoices and support general administrative tasks
•Provide support for visa processes, legal document requests, and exit interviews
•Escalate concerns and make recommendations to the HR Manager as needed
•Other duties as assigned.
What are we looking for?
We're seeking a motivated, detail-oriented professional with a strong interest in growing their HR career in the mining industry.
Qualifications Required:
•High school diploma or GED
•Minimum 3 years' experience in HR administration or support roles
•Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
•Strong computer proficiency (Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel, etc.)
•Ability to manage confidential information with discretion
•Strong organizational and time management skills
•Current Driver's License
•Ability to pass a background check and post-offer physical
Desired Experience & Competencies:
•Experience in mining or remote industrial environments
•Familiarity with ADP, Pronto, or other HRIS systems
•Understanding of MSHA regulations and HR compliance in a high-risk environment
•Flexibility to adapt to evolving HR processes and company needs
The Details:
Monday – Friday Schedule: Up to 8 hours per day at the Fairbanks location. During on-site periods at the Pogo Mine Site – Monday – Thursday - 12 hours per day.
Exposure to extreme weather conditions, confined workspaces, noise, and lighting variation may occur
When visiting the mine site Camp accommodation it includes meals, private rooms, gym, recreation room, sauna, Wi-Fi, and TV. Shuttle transportation is available from Fairbanks, Delta Junction, and Tok during these times.
