POSITION SUMMARY: This position is responsible for loading and unloading steel products into the warehouse. Pulling and staging orders for next day shipments. Becoming a team memeber to achieve daily goals.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: This position reports to the Warehouse Manager.

KEY RESULTS

1. Safely operates equipment to aid in the shipment of steel materials: Operates a variety of equipment, which may include; overhead crane, forklift, drill press, band saw, hand torch, various hand tools (band cutter, bolt cutter, sledge hammer, etc.), stepladders, chains, pry bars, measuring tape, calipers, pliers. Assists other departments with equipment operation, when qualified. Maintains and repairs equipment if necessary, when qualified.

2. Performs other warehouse duties in an organized fashion: Loads trucks and railcars with product for delivery to customers. Receives product from incoming trucks and railcars, unloads, and places in appropriate storage area. Moves product to appropriate area for shipping and stocking. Assists customers with steel orders, including pulling, stacking, and loading steel. Complies with OSHA and branch safety standards for blocking, storing, handling, and stacking products Complete applicable paperwork as necessary Keeps warehouse in a safe & neat manner, which may include shoveling snow, operating snow plow, and sweeping floors. Assists in training new employees. Performs inventory checks. Tags, color-codes, and marks steel. Minimal supervision of other steel warehouse employees.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to work in varying weather conditions and stand on concrete floors, in an unheated warehouse or outside, with moderate levels of noise. Ability to lift 50 pounds frequently and maximum of 100 pounds occasionally, pushing and pulling up to 80 pounds, gripping, squatting, bending climbing, standing, reaching when transferring, sorting, stacking, and delivering products.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
