Rainy River Mine

Situated in beautiful northwestern Ontario, 65 km northwest of Fort Frances, the Rainy River Mine is an open pit and underground, gold and silver producing, residential mine site.

The Rainy River Mine, located adjacent to the Ontario / Minnesota border is 65 Kilometers northwest of Fort Frances, Ontario and is situated half way between Winnipeg, Manitoba and Thunder Bay, Ontario. The area is home to more than 130 species of birds and large populations of moose, black bear and deer. If you enjoy outdoor activities including hunting, fishing, winter sports and lake country then this is an area you will love to live and work in.

Position Reports To:

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Freight Logistics Coordinator to lead initiatives aimed at reducing freight costs and optimizing logistics operations. This role is critical to ensuring cost-effective transportation solutions while maintaining high service levels across all carriers and vendors.

Key Responsibilities

- Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities across all logistics operations.

- Analyze freight spend and trends to develop strategic cost-reduction initiatives.

- Consolidate shipments across departments to maximize load efficiency.

- Review and validate all freight invoices for accuracy.

- Ensure unit price charges and accessorial fees are correctly applied.

- Resolve discrepancies with carriers and vendors promptly.

- Evaluate service levels of all freight carriers and maintain performance scorecards.

- Assist with negotiating rates and service terms with carriers.

- Schedule freight pickups and deliveries with vendors.

- Manage and track Advance Shipping Notices (ASNs).

- Coordinate freight consolidation efforts across all internal departments.

- Coordinate booking of Crane, Front End Loaders for big or heavy loads.

- Communication with end user departments on expected freight arrival.

- Ensure transport company complies with safety and environmental requirements for New Gold site.

- Manage relationships with logistics providers, freight companies, and suppliers.

- Optimize logistics routes and methods to reduce costs.

- Identify and mitigate risks related to transportation and supply delays.

- Prepare and maintain shipping documents, customs paperwork, and permits.

- Assist Warehouse with damaged freight claims process and tracking.

Qualifications

- Proven experience in logistics, freight coordination, or supply chain management.

- Strong analytical skills with a focus on cost control and efficiency.

- Proficiency in freight auditing and invoice validation.

- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.

- Familiarity with ERP platforms SAP4HANA, Ariba.

- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

- Demonstrated Organizational skills and attention to detail.

- Experience with Bills of Lading, commercial invoices, and packing lists.

Preferred Skills

- Experience with international and domestic freight.

- Knowledge of customs, tariffs, and regulatory compliance.

- Advanced Excel skills and data analysis capabilities.

- On-time delivery rate for scheduled shipments.

- CIFFA certification will be an asset.
