Golden Vertex Corp is a mining company based in Bullhead City, AZ. The Moss Mine Complex is a precious metal, open pit surface mine specializing in gold/silver extraction. Golden Vertex was recently acquired by new ownership (Mako Mining Corp) and is under new management. The Company operates the Moss Mine located in Mohave County in northwestern Arizona, approximately a one hour and a half drive south of Las Vegas, Nevada. Golden Vertex Corp is currently seeking a qualified person for the position of Environmental Coordinator for our Moss Mine project.
The Environmental Coordinator will support environmental compliance, monitoring, and stewardship programs at the Moss Mine Complex, an open-pit precious metals surface mine near Bullhead City, AZ. This position ensures that mining operations meet all federal, state, and local environmental regulations, company environmental policies, and best management practices. The Environmental Coordinator will work collaboratively with operations, engineering, and regulatory agencies to implement environmental protection strategies and reporting.
- Assist with compliance monitoring and reporting under permits including APP, air quality, and maintaining the Mining Plan of Operation under BLM.
- Prepare, organize, and submit required environmental reports to regulatory agencies (e.g., ADEQ, EPA, BLM) in a timely and accurate manner.
- Track and maintain documentation to support audits, inspections, and compliance evaluations.
- Conduct routine field inspections of soil, groundwater, air emissions, reclamation areas, stormwater controls, and other environmental indicators.
- Collect samples and coordinate with third-party labs as required.
- Maintain field logs, inspection checklists, and monitoring results.
- Support permit compliance for surface disturbance, water use, waste disposal, and other regulated activities.
- Assist in preparation and updates of environmental permits and related materials.
- Maintain environmental files, GIS data, maps, and databases.
- Deliver environmental training to mine personnel on topics such as spill prevention, leak detection, liner maintenance, waste segregation, erosion control, wildlife protections, and environmental incident reporting.
- Promote environmental awareness across the workforce.
- Respond to environmental incidents (spills, exceedances, complaints) and assist with corrective actions, investigations, documentation, and reporting.
- Coordinate with operations and management to ensure timely mitigation.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not necessary, in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Geology, Natural Resources, or a related discipline.
- 1–3+ years of environmental compliance or monitoring experience, preferably in mining, construction, or industrial settings.- Knowledge of environmental regulations (e.g., Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, RCRA, NEPA), and Arizona state requirements.
- Familiarity with environmental monitoring techniques and data management.
- Ability to work outdoors, in extreme heat conditions, in a mining environment and remote locations.
- Strong organizational and written/verbal communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to field sites.
- Experience working in open-pit mining or mineral processing environments.
- Training or certification in environmental compliance, hazardous materials, stormwater management, or related fields.
- Proficiency with GIS/ARC GIS, database management, and environmental reporting tools.
- First aid, HAZWOPER, or related safety certifications.
- Fieldwork in rugged outdoor terrain, extreme heat, variable weather conditions, and active mining zones.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, steel-toe boots, safety glasses, and high-visibility clothing.
