Duties & Responsibilities

- Assist with the site wide environmental compliance and performance related to environmental aspects such as air, land, reclamation and wildlife.

- Lead the implementation, updates, and reviews of all applicable environmental management plans, including: Waste, Chemical Handling and Spill Prevention Management Plans, Soil, Vegetation, and Invasive Plant Management Plans, Reclamation Management Plan, Wildlife Management Plans, and Air Quality and Dust Control Management Plans.

- Lead the annual Air Quality Report and annual Reclamation Report, coordinating with environmental coordinators and contractors.

- Provide day-to-day support and guidance to environmental coordinators and technicians, ensuring alignment with departmental priorities, mentorship, and skill development.

- Assist with work planning, task delegation, and performance support for the environmental field team to meet monitoring, data management, and reporting requirements.

- Coordinate and review bi-annual baghouse and stack testing, ensuring timely data collection and reporting.

- Review monthly air quality reports and provide technical oversight for continuous improvement of air monitoring systems.

- Collaborate with Engineering and other departments to align environmental programs with permit conditions and site operational requirements.

- Provide day-to-day support to the Environmental Superintendent in general compliance oversight and contractor management.

- Liaise with regulators, stakeholders, and Indigenous partners on land, wildlife, and air-related matters, supporting effective engagement and reporting.

- Conduct field inspections and risk assessments to identify improvement opportunities in environmental performance.

- Contribute to environmental awareness and education programs for site staff and contractors.


Education, Experience & Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.

- Minimum of 3 years in environmental management, preferably in mining or industrial operations.

- Valid Driver's License.

- Strong working knowledge of air quality monitoring, reclamation planning, land use, and wildlife protection measures

- Proficiency in environmental management software and Microsoft Office Suite

- Experience in Environmental Management Systems (EMS), including maintaining compliance and ensuring the integration of environmental considerations into site operations

- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, coordinate schedules, and manage reporting deadlines

- Strong communication skills maintaining relationships with regulatory agencies, First Nations, and other stakeholders.


Technical Competencies & Skills

- Experience in implementing technical environmental programs related to resource development, preferably in the mining sector.

- Experience in Metal Leaching and Acid Rock Drainage

- Knowledge of environmental legislation relevant to mining in BC, including the BC Mines Act, BC Environmental Management Act, Federal Fisheries Act, Federal Species at Risk Act, and BC Wildlife Act.

- Competency in leading practice risk assessment and management approaches.

- Proficiency in implementing and maintaining Environmental Management Systems.

- Strong interpersonal skills with effective verbal and written communication abilities.

- Excellent project and process management skills.

- Capability to collaborate effectively with diverse groups, including operational, engineering, and environmental staff.

- Proficiency in communication with regulators, First Nations, and other stakeholders.

- Understanding and application of leading practice techniques and technologies in environmental management at mining sites.

- Ability to adhere to the assigned work schedule, which would be 5x2 (Monday- Friday)

- Must be able to communicate in English.

- Proven safety and attendance record.

- Willingness and ambition to learn, self starter, ability to work in a team and independently prioritizing multiple projects.

- Ability and willingness to work in all changing weather conditions on the mine site.

- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with peers, trainees, and leadership.


Wage and Benefits

Conuma Resources takes pride in providing industry-competitive wages and a comprehensive benefits package that truly values our employees. Specifically for the Environmental Coordinator role, we offer an annual base salary range of $96,000.00 - $120,000.00, along with a variety of bonuses. These bonuses include monthly efficiency bonuses linked to safety and production, quarterly retention bonuses, and a performance bonus tailored to reward your contributions. Our benefits package also includes paid vacation and personal days, 7% RRSP matching, and 100% employer-paid extended health and dental care, among other valuable perks.

- Tumbler Ridge to our Quintette Mine, Wolverine Mine, Brule Mine, and Willow Creek Mine

- Chetwynd to our Brule Mine and Willow Creek Mine

- Dawson Creek to our Willow Creek Mine

- Mackenzie to our Willow Creek Mine
