The Compliance Technician performs maintenance and installation projects at Dead River Company bulk plants and underground storage facilities. This position ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations concerning OSHA, DOT, EPA and individual State Environmental Agencies. Performs emergency maintenance for bulk plants and retail motor fuel sites, and conducts annual UST inspections.
1. Performs general safety and maintenance items for both underground and aboveground bulk plants.
2. Troubleshoots operational equipment issues and makes appropriate repairs.
3. Coordinates and oversees bulk plant upgrades, renovations and repairs of construction projects.
4. Assists Managers and Supervisors with operation and maintenance questions regarding their distribution equipment.
7. Inspects equipment in the field for safety and environmental compliance.
11. Interacts with state environmental and fire agencies.
12. Completes various safety and environmental projects as needed.

Prior experience in hazardous materials handling and a working knowledge of petroleum and LP products and their characteristics is preferred. Prior experience and training in the general construction of bulk plants is preferred. Technical knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local codes relating to USTs, safety, and bulk plant construction is preferred.

Hazardous Materials Technician level HAZWOPER training is required.
Maine, Vermont and New Hampshire Underground Storage Tank inspector, installation and removal certification (or able to rapidly achieve this certification).
The Compliance Technician interacts frequently with Market Managers, and other site managers, equipment suppliers, regulatory agency representatives, and upper management to ensure equipment is properly maintained and in safety and environmental compliance.
The Equipment Installation and Maintenance Technician makes decisions regarding appropriate steps to take in servicing, maintaining, or installing equipment. Complex decisions are made in conjunction with the Safety Manager and local Market Manager. The Director of Risk Management and Legal Compliance and Safety Manger are kept apprised of complex safety issues, especially if they impact safety or the environment.
Safety considerations relate to safe operation of the service vehicle, wearing appropriate personal protective equipment, and operating small and large equipment in a safe manner
Hand tools, air tools, drills, presses and grinders, lifts, boom trucks, jacks, various testing equipment, safety equipment, pipes, tubing, etc.
About 90% of the time is spent working outside in all weather conditions. Temperatures can vary from below zero to above 90 degrees, depending on the time of year. There is exposure to petroleum products for some maintenance activities. This position requires travel to all our locations throughout Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont. Overnight travel is often required.

The Equipment Installation and Maintenance Technician must be able to physically perform lifting, shoveling, and moving of heavy objects while performing inspections, maintenance, and installations.
