Position Overview

The AMI Onsite Construction Coordinator will serve as the day-to-day field representative for the Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) program in one of three targeted operating areas in Florida. This is a boots-on-the-ground role responsible for coordinating construction crews, contractors, and material flow at active jobsites, verifying that installation work is performed safely, on schedule, and to the standards required by the client utility. The ideal candidate is field-experienced, highly organized, comfortable directing subcontractors, and able to communicate clearly between crews in the field and the program leadership team.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide daily onsite coordination and oversight of AMI installation crews, subcontractors, and supporting field personnel across assigned work areas.

- Conduct pre-job briefings, walk jobsites, and confirm crews are working to approved scopes, drawings, and utility standards.

- Monitor daily production, completed installations, and field issues; escalate delays, scope changes, or safety concerns to the AMI Program Manager.

- Verify proper meter installation, equipment configuration, and site restoration through field inspections and spot audits.

- Coordinate jobsite logistics including crew assignments, equipment staging, material drops, and access to customer premises.

- Track and manage onsite material inventory, meter receipts, returns, and damaged/defective units in coordination with the warehouse and procurement teams.

- Maintain accurate field documentation: daily reports, installation logs, progress photos, exception reports, and as-built notes.

- Enforce site safety standards, PPE compliance, traffic control, and adherence to RUIZ and client EHS policies; participate in toolbox talks and incident reporting.

- Serve as the primary onsite point of contact for client utility representatives, inspectors, and property owners; resolve customer access issues and escalate disputes appropriately.

- Support quality assurance/quality control activities and confirm field data is accurately captured in the work management and tracking systems.

- Identify field-level risks, constraints, and process improvement opportunities; provide feedback to program leadership to refine deployment plans.

Qualifications

Education:

High school diploma or GED required. Associate's or bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering technology, or a related field preferred.

Certifications:

OSHA 30-Hour Construction required (or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire). Preferred: First Aid/CPR, utility-issued meter installation/qualification credentials, or CHST (Construction Health and Safety Technician). PMI CAPM or equivalent project credential is a plus but not required.

Experience:

- 3+ years of field construction coordination, foreman, or inspection experience, preferably on electric utility, AMI/AMR, smart meter, or broader utility infrastructure deployments.

- Demonstrated experience overseeing subcontractor crews and managing daily field production.

- Familiarity with electric distribution systems, meter sets, service points, and utility work practices strongly preferred.

Technical Skills:

Working proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); comfort using mobile field applications, work management systems (e.g., Maximo, ClickSoftware, or similar), and GIS-based mapping tools on a tablet or phone. Ability to read service drawings, work orders, and utility standards.

Other Requirements

- Strong field presence and ability to direct crews and contractors professionally and decisively.

- Excellent organizational and written communication skills; ability to produce clear daily reports under field conditions.

- Ability to work outdoors in all weather, walk uneven terrain, and access residential and commercial meter locations throughout the workday.

- Willingness to travel daily across the assigned operating area, with occasional travel between Florida service territories.

- Valid Florida driver's license and clean driving record required.

- Must pass pre-employment background check and drug screen per RUIZ and client requirements.
