- Knowledge of all SPWS company policies and safety standards.
- Ability to operate backhoe, trackhoe, track loader, bulldozer, mini excavator, and skid steer.
- Experience with digging near utility lines and using safe standards.
- Perform routine maintenance, including minor service, maintenance, and cleaning of equipment.
- Responsible for alerting the mechanic of any significant problems.
- Coordinate machine actions with other activities, positioning or moving loads in response to hand or audio signals from crew members.
- Take caution to avoid potential hazards or obstructions, such as utility lines, other equipment, other workers, or falling objects.
- Check fuel supplies at job sites to ensure adequate availability.
- Locate underground services, such as pipes or wires, prior to beginning work.
- Monitor operations to ensure that health and safety standards are met.
- Keep record of material or equipment usage or problems encountered.
- Must have initiative, ability, and willingness to perform and assist with other job positions for job completion as requested.
- Ability to repair concrete curbs, sidewalks, driveways, and roadways.
- Ability to repair and pave streets.

- Valid Tennessee Driver License.
- Valid CDL.
- Ability to lead others and work well with others.
- Must be able to work outside in various temperatures.
- Experience operating a backhoe.
- Ability to read, understand, and interpret documents, prints, and plats.
- Ability to perform strenuous physical work.
- Grade II Distribution license.
- Detail oriented.
- Problem solver with strong critical thinking skills.
- Strong time management skills.
- Knowledge of safety procedures and ability to implement those policies on every job.
