We are looking for someone who is a collaborator and is eager to learn. This is a full-time, hourly position working 9/80 schedule with every other Friday off. Work performed primarily outdoors in varying weather conditions.
The Sewer Operator-in-Training or Technician is responsible for the day-to-day operations and maintenance of the District’s sewer facilities and infrastructure to include lift stations, sewer lines, valves, grinder pumps, and manholes by routinely locating, inspecting, monitoring, and repairing.
- Inspects, documents, and maintains underground sewer line and lateral condition using closed circuit televising system and high velocity cleaning equipment.
- Collects and records data and condition assessment for asset management and maintains accurate and appropriate information for updating maps, as-built plans, and/or the maintenance management system.
- Skilled in: Reading and interpreting construction drawings, as-builts and maps, safety procedures, and regulations for confined space, and locate equipment.
- Knowledge in: Appropriate materials, methods, tools, equipment, and practices involved in construction, maintenance, repair, and operation of sewer systems; electrical, telemetry, and mechanical equipment.
- Prior experience in sewer operations and maintenance required for Technician status.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid Washington State Driver’s License in good standing
- CDL license within 18 months from date of hire
Ability to obtain within one year from date of hire:
- Wastewater Collections (WWC) 1, Washington State Flagging Card, and First Aid/CPR certification.
- Once on-call, you must be able to respond to District boundaries within 40 minutes.
