Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Tool & Die Set-up Technician to join our manufacturing team. This role involves preparing and setting up tooling for various production processes, ensuring precision and efficiency in manufacturing operations.
- Set-up progressive and secondary dies on various types of punch presses (30 through 300 ton punch press.
- Replace tools and set-up equipment back in their designated area.
- Set-up and adjust auxiliary equipment, servo/roll feeds, air feeds, straighteners, levelers, scrap choppers, bow inducers, pallet and coil dereelers.
- Set-up and adjust different safety devices available for dies and punch presses including electrical and mechanical sensors, tonnage monitors and interlock switches.
- Remove progressive dies and secondary dies from various types of punch presses (30 through 300 ton punch press.
- Remove halves of (top or bottom) progressive dies and secondary dies from various types of punch presses (30 through 300 ton punch press.
- Perform visual inspection before submitting part samples for approval.
- Review and explain process with operators before turning the newly set up job over to production.
- Diagnose and adjust process problems if necessary.
- Inform production supervisor of all tool and/or production problems.
- Follow and perform work instructions, comply with all corporate policies, rules and practices.
- Run production on punch presses and secondary equipment and pack parts when required.
- Perform assembly operations if applicable/competent.
- Understanding of GD&T principles, schematics, blueprints, and mechanical drawings
- Familiarity with manufacturing tools including calipers, micrometers, hand tools, and precision measuring instruments
- Mechanical aptitude with experience in tooling, machining, assembly, and fabrication processes
- Prior experience working with stamping presses or stamping press operations is advantageous
