The Supervisor Construction Maintenance provides leadership for overhead/underground construction, operation and maintenance of distribution to provide service to new and existing customers. This role coordinates the activities of crews, garage/warehouse, servicemen, and meter reading employees. The Supervisor, Construction Maintenance position is key to supporting our mission of safety and reliability while fostering strong relationships with internal teams, customers, and the community.
What your day would be like
- Coordinate & Lead: Manage line crews and service teams to ensure full staffing and timely completion of construction projects.
- Ensure Reliability: Implement operating and restoration procedures to minimize customer outages.
- Optimize Resources: Schedule and allocate resources to control costs and maximize productivity without compromising service.
- Foster Communication: Resolve differences through open dialogue and accurate interpretation of company policies and labor agreements.
- Maintain Fleet: Oversee vehicle and equipment maintenance programs for efficiency and reliability.
- Promote Safety: Drive safety awareness through meetings, tailboard sessions, and adherence to safe work practices.
- Support Emergencies: Respond to emergent restoration efforts and after-hours duties as needed.
- Engage Community: Participate in local boards, council meetings, and community events.
- Experienced Leader: Background in supervising construction or maintenance crews with strong organizational skills.
- Safety Advocate: Knowledge of safety protocols and commitment to accident prevention.
- Problem Solver: Ability to manage conflicts and interpret policies effectively.
- Resource Manager: Skilled in budgeting, scheduling, and optimizing resources.
- Collaborator: Strong communication skills to work with internal teams, customers, and community stakeholders.
- Adaptable Professional: Comfortable handling after-hours responsibilities and emergent situations.
- Bachelors' degree in construction management, engineering, business, or a related field plus three (3) years' experience in the design, engineering, construction, operations, and/or maintenance of transmission and distribution electrical facilities, power plants or related energy or construction industries.
- In lieu of Bachelor's degree, an equivalent combination of seven (7) years education and working experience in design, engineering, construction, operations, and/or maintenance of transmission and distribution electrical facilities, power plants or related energy or construction industries.
- Must live within the assigned geographic area with the ability to commute to work sites of service area and ability/availability to oversee emergent work during nights and weekends.
Preferred Special Skill, Knowledge, or Qualifications:
- Demonstrated leadership qualities and effective interpersonal skills. Broad and in-depth knowledge of utility operations, construction, safety standards, IBEW contract and local/state/federal regulations.
- Excellent project management, business planning, and negotiating skills.
Onsite: Requires work to be performed in the field and/or at an APS facility. Depending on the responsibilities of the role, this may include, but is not limited to, working at a power plant, job site, or in the community.
- Employees are expected to reside in Arizona (or New Mexico for Four Corners-based employees).
