The ideal candidate will have proven experience in Adobe Creative Suite, Sony Cinema Camera 4k workflow, and SNS Media Storage. This role entails weekly travel based on business needs and may be located at one of our corporate offices in Chattanooga, TN, or Knoxville, TN.
Provides video design support and strategic thinking to help generate creative/ innovative ideas and executes them in support of TVA and internal client communications needs. In addition, through creative opportunities ranging from traditional to rich media, social media, marketing, and live event support, assist with defining the “tone” of the TVA brand. Serving as a protector of our brand using contemporary design principles, solid methodology principles, understanding of emerging technology and its value to convert thoughts into design concepts.
- Exhibits and promotes integrity, respect, and authenticity in all interactions internal and external to TVA Communications and in performance of assigned duties.
- Demonstrates strong collaboration, open-mindedness, and partnership with teammates within and outside of the TVA Communications organization.
- Enhances and protects the TVA reputation and brand; builds understanding and support for the agency’s long-term strategy and enterprise priorities.
- Create and develop contemporary and compelling content through the use of various production tools/elements (video, film, editing, live streaming, audio, motion graphics), that support TVA’s overall visual communications goals, initiatives and branding requirements.
- Flawlessly executes technical productions including the direction of actors, technical support personnel, and other production technicians during the production phase of a project.
- Leads the execution of on-site and studio requirements (creative, content production and logistical needs) for senior executive presentation support (board meetings, employee meetings, town hall meetings, etc.) and other special projects where audiences of TVA employees or external audiences are present. Determine appropriate resoures/approach required to seamlessly execute these events.
- Leads the production and editing of elements for internally produced TVA video programs, digital signage and the management of the corporate television studio, editing suite, and production studios.
- Serves as a team leader in the creation of video and select photographic materials to ensure the highest quality product possible.
- Acts as a steward of TVA by routinely evaluating and assessing “the spend” on brand/visual communication related items and providing proactive oversight, initiative, thought leadership to the communications leadership team.
- Handles a myriad of projects that necessitate the delivery of aesthetically progressive designs for a wide variety of canvases (static, electronic, big screen, etc,). Collaborating with Communications Consultant, copywriters, producers, editors, designers (internal & external) this role will help drive awareness, loyalty, culture, pride and business results.
- Responsible for the implementation of innovative design collateral in a client consulting framework that results in a strengthening of the TVA brand.
- Provides thought leadership in design principles, new communication trends and technology opportunities that help elevate and portray the TVA brand as one of innovation, stability, and progressive thinking.
- Actively engages and participates in the organizing, archiving of our various creative assets.
- Ensures that communication products meet the needs of our internal/external clients and that the products are regularly reviewed to ensure they meet the stated objectives of the client as well as their return on investment.
- Collaborates with outsourced design, agency resources as necessary.
- Provides design direction to external vendors for all communications products that are produced outside TVA.
Serves as a member of the Emergency Response Organization, and the Public Information organization in particular, in accordance with Emergency Plan procedures. Supports on-call rotation for after-hours needs. Additional assignments as needed.
- Minimum Requirements:
Education. — Bachelor’s degree in new media, visual communication, TV production, journalism, communications, marketing, or a related field of study; or equivalent education, training & experience is required.
Experience. — At least 5 years’ experience providing a comprehensive working knowledge and experience in corporate production, television or film production that meets acceptable broadcast standards or business equivalent.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities —
- 3-5 plus years of practical/ hands on work experience with non-linear editing systems (Final Cut, Avid, Premier, etc.), video capturing tools (production cameras, DSLRs, multi-camera projects), static/motion graphics and studio/on-location lighting.
- Keen understanding (demonstrated by sample production reel) of all elements of New Media production (lighting, composition, colorization, editing technique, encoding, sound design, graphical elements, etc.)
- Exceptional level of creativity, across a variety of disciplines (traditional, new & rich media).
- Excellent listening skills with the ability to quickly synthesize the essence of the visual communication need/objectives and translate it into a visual concept.
- Proactive, self motivated and good instincts.
- In-depth knowledge of motion graphics, other rich-media techniques, and emerging technologies.
- Highly conceptual with the ability to pitch/sell creative ideas
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to wear multiple hats
- Requires attention to detail and the ability/temperament to manage multiple projects.
- Must be creative, resourceful, decisive, and highly productive self-starter who is comfortable with a high degree of responsibility.
- Candidate may be required to obtain and maintain a security clearance based on position / access requirements and essential job functions.
