Small Scale Operator. To perform the duties of this job, the applicant must have good interpersonal skills; be patient and tactful; to be cooperative and have a good attitude at all times with co-workers and customers.
- Sorting Scrap: visually identifying and separating different types of scrap metal (steel, aluminum, copper, etc) based on grade and quality
- Using forklifts or other equipment to load and unload scrap metal from customer vehicles. Maintain and have a high level understanding of all equipment.
- Operating scales to accurately weigh incoming scrap metal and record weights
- Using hand tools and basic cutting equipment to prepare large scrap items for processing
- Keep the scrap yard clean, organized, and running efficiently
- Maintains the upkeep and maintenance of building property, equipment, etc.
- a working understanding of scrap operations
- ability to lift and move heavy scrap metal items
- ability to operate a forklift, skid steer, and other heavy machinery

- able to perform and task other responsibilities as needed and directed
- ability to be on feet all day lift and carry up to 60lbs, bend at waste, twist upper body, climb up and down equipment.

The work environment is primarily outdoors in a scarp yard, exposed to various weather conditions, exposure to noise from machinery and involves working around heavy equipment and sharp metal.
